BIOGRAPHY OF CATERINE IBARGUEN

She was born on February 12, 1984 Apartado, Antioquia, is a Colombian athlete.
Caterine was raised by her grandmother after separation from her parents due to
armed conflict. He started playing volleyball before practicing athletics at age
twelve, and his first coach was Wilder Zapata, who, seeing his potential, proposed
to move to the Antonio Roldán Bentancour Sports Village in Medellín. There he
began his training in 1996 with Cuban coach Jorge Luis Alfaro in the high jump
specialty.

Achievements

Caterine, who was fifteen years old, won his first international prize when he was
placed third in the South American Athletics Championship in 1999. Ibargüen
participated in the high jump modality and was able to attend his first Olympic
Games in 2004 in Athens.

In the modalities of jump of length, jump of height and triple jump, specialty in
which it sports a gold medal in world-wide championships of athletics, one of silver
in the Olympic Games, and of which is the present Pan-American champion.
On the other hand, in the South American Games Ibargüen has conquered a total
of 5 gold medals, 3 of silver, and 5 of bronze.
