LITERATURE REVIEW

Wadhva D. Charan, stated that in present days mostly all the private institutes are
increasing the numbers of management graduates according to the current demand of the
environment but on the other hand these private institution are still on the old track of
management education because they don’t want to take any risk related the changing
scenario of management graduations, Thus they are only producing bulk graduates rather
than producing quality management graduates. The management graduation should not
emphasis on commercialization rather it should be carefully regulated with the objective
of increasing employability of management graduates.
The privately funded Management Educational Institutions have undoubtedly helped to
increase the supply of Management Graduates but unfortunately not all promoters of such
private institutions have cared enough to provide quality education. The expanding
degree of commercialization of Management Education has to be carefully regulated in
public interest with the additional objective of increasing the degree of employability of
the Management Graduates to their employers. The latter objective also needs to be
incorporated in the educational activities of the publicly funded institutions.
Industry Interface is very important because getting absorbed in the industry is the
ultimate objective for most of the students. If industry doesn’t find management
graduates employable, then they should become more pro-active in helping the
management education institutes to help Management students acquire the skills that they
need for the jobs to be done by them as their future employees. The successful managers
from the corporations should offer to teach courses incorporating their practical wisdom.
Business organisations should encourage case writing by the faculty of Management
education institutes based on both success stories and failure stories for improving
knowledge of the students who are their potential employees.

Prof. D.M.Pestonjee, We will not be able to give same traditional inputs in Management
Education which we were giving for the past forty to fifty years. We will have to rethink
and not only reorient, what is required now, in the coming ten years or so, with regard to
not only personality of the candidate who comes but also the demands on that person
when he leaves the portals of the university or college. As the Business Environment is
undergoing modifications, demands of employers are different, we have to modify the
system and structure of Institutes delivering Management Education.

Prof. Dilip K. Bandyopadhyay, When Management Education started evolving, many


people believed that management cannot be taught in the classrooms. It is to be based on
experiences, understanding of market, technology and environment and so on. In India,
till late sixties, management graduates were not accepted by the industry. The concept of
employment of management graduates came into being when two students of first batch
of XLRI were placed at Tata Steel.

Prof. Mangesh G. Korgaonker, Our management Education system has completely


driven by placements. We have completely ignored the role of self employment or
entrepreneurship can play as in the case of Medical or law education. The national body,
like AICTE, should not only regulate management education but also effectively
contribute towards its systematic development.
Different sectors have their own needs, supply chains, value chains, functions, own
relationships and requirements and therefore, the need to educate people in management
in each sector differently has been recognized.

Prof. Krishna Kumar, The management institutes should contact with industry for
literature development, data support for research and consulting opportunities. The
industry gets trained young management professional at entry level, can update their
working executives on current issues and best management practices through short
duration management development programmes, research and consulting support.
