Editorial: Struggling for Survival

The Catholic Church in the Philippines dedicates 2018 as the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated
Persons. This year-long celebration preludes the fifth centennial anniversary of Christianity in the
country that will fall on 2021. With this year’s theme, the whole people of God is asked to reflect upon
the indispensable roles being played by the clergy and the consecrated persons in the life of the whole
church. Yet, though essential in the life of a nation where catholic faith composes 85% of its population,
its number diminishes in a very disturbing pace. Yes, priesthood and religious life extinct. And it is upon
the shoulders of the youth to take a stand and say yes to the call for its revival and survival.
