Students will order alphabetical words with lots of demonstration and physical activities.
“Engage the analytical and critical thinking skills of young students by making observations
about when using alphabetical order is important (dictionaries, for example!), and what
happens when a letter is missing or if there are two of the same letter in the alphabetical list”.

Prior knowledge:
Students know alphabet letters.
Learning Objectives:
Identify words that can be found alphabetically in the dictionary and other reference
material.
Order small groups of words alphabetically.

Encourage struggling students to use the whiteboard alphabet chart (used during guided
practice) to support them during independent work time.
Lesson Closing:
Choose any wooden craft stick with students name on it and ask them questions.
