Introduction to the Secure Content Locker for iOS User Guide

Introduction to the Secure Content Locker for iOS User

Guide

Overview
Welcome to the Secure Content Locker User Guide. The Secure Content Locker is a mobile application that your
organization – whether it’s a company, school, or something else – has chosen to use to deliver content to your mobile
device or laptop. The Secure Content Locker app allows you to access important content on your device while allowing
your organization to ensure those files stay secure. Any content accessed through the Secure Content Locker opens
inside the application, which ensures that it cannot be copied, saved, or shared without approval.
The purpose of this guide is to help you use the application so you can access the content you need. It’s divided into a
couple of sections, from simple explanations of each button and menu to in-depth instructions on how to access your
content over the Internet through the AirWatch Self-Service Portal.

In This Guide
l Before You Begin – This is a section that includes important information you will need to use the Secure Content
Locker app.

l Secure Content Locker Setup – This section walks you through downloading, installing and logging into the Secure
Content Locker app.

l Secure Content Locker Functions – This section explains how to navigate through the app as well as downloading,
viewing and managing content.

l Personal Content – This section covers how to use the Self-Service Portal (SSP) and the Secure Content Locker app to
view, use and manage Personal Content.

l Appendix: – Supported File Types Matrix – This section displays the files that open within your Secure Content Locker
app. If you have an issue opening a file, please ensure that it is supported before you contact your administrator.

Before You Begin

Note the following important information and requirements that you will need to know before using the Secure Content
Locker application.

Disclaimer
The screenshots used in this document may differ slightly from what you actually see on your device due to the way your
organization’s AirWatch administrator specifically tailored your device's Secure Content Locker settings. In addition, since
your administrator can configure the Secure Content Locker in a number of ways for different use cases, the instructions
you should follow may vary. It is ultimately up to your AirWatch administrator to inform you of which methods to use or
of any special steps that your organization may enforce. If you have any questions about what you should be seeing or
how to perform an action described in this guide, please contact your AirWatch administrator.

Requirements
This section lists out and describes the different types of information you may need to access the Secure Content Locker.
Access requirements depend on how your administrator set up the Secure Content Locker for your organization.
Read the descriptions below to gain a better understanding of how to use the information your administrator gave you.
l Username and Password – Your AirWatch administrator should provide you with the username and password you
should use. These might be your normal credentials used to log in to a work computer, or they could be unique
AirWatch credentials provided to you. If you are unsure of which to use, try your normal login credentials. If those do
not work, check with your AirWatch administrator.

l Group ID – A Group ID is a special code used to identify the group you belong to in the AirWatch system.

l Server URL – The Server URL is the network location of your organization’s AirWatch instance.

l Self-Service Portal URL – The Self-Service Portal is a website where you can go to view details about your device,
content you have uploaded and more.

l Single Sign On PIN – This PIN is applicable if your organization enables single sign on functionality or keep me signed
in. Single sign on is available for the AirWatch Agent or the AirWatch Workspace applications. You will be prompted
to create a PIN if you do not already have one. If you already have a PIN, simply use it when prompted.

Supported File Types

While the AirWatch Secure Content Locker supports several different file types, not all devices support the same file
types. For a complete list of file types supported by your device, see the Appendix – Supported Files Type Matrix.

Personal Content

Overview
Personal Content refers to files you personally upload, manage, and maintain. These files are distinct from content your
organization may push down to you through the Secure Content Locker. Whereas your organization's content may be
protected with the Secure Content Locker's security functions, Personal Content that you upload is yours to control and
do with as you wish. You can upload and download files from your Personal Content repository in multiple ways. The
diagram below illustrates these methods, and the description beneath it outlines the process.

1. Your Files – These can be any of the Secure Content Locker supported file types that you want to access from
multiple devices.

2. Uploading Content – You can upload Personal Content in one of three ways:
l Add content on your mobile device via the Secure Content Locker application.

l Upload content via your organization's Self-Service Portal.

l Sync content that you drop into a shared folder on your laptop or computer via Secure Content Locker Sync.

3. Personal Content Repository – After uploading content using one of these three methods it becomes a part of your
personal content repository, which is simply a pool of all your Personal Content files.

4. Downloading Content – You can access this repository in one of three ways:
l Access your content from the Secure Content Locker application on your mobile device.

l View files in the Self-Service Portal by logging into your organization's website.

l Use Secure Content Locker Sync to view content from a shared folder on your laptop or computer.

5. View Files on Devices – The uses cases for viewing personal files on devices are limitless. For example, you might
drag and drop a number of important files into your SCL Sync shared folder on your work laptop so that you can
access them later on your tablet or other mobile device.

your AirWatch administrator.

Using the Secure Content Locker for iOS to Manage Personal Content
The Personal Content area of the Secure Content Locker for iOS resides under the User Content section described in
Navigating the Secure Content Locker. After accessing this view you can view, manipulate, and manage content in the
exact same way that you can other content, which is described under Viewing and Managing Content. One major
difference is that for Personal Content you can swipe left for any file and display additional options, as shown below:

1. Delete content from your local device or the cloud.

2. Rename files in your Personal Content.

3. Add Comments to the file.

4. Share a file or folder with others and configure shared settings.

files. You can:
l Extract files to current destination path and save to the same location.

l Extract files to current destination path after creating a folder.

l Extract files to a separate selected destination path.

Note: When you extract the compressed contents of a .zip file, the app automatically places each individual,
uncompressed file in a subfolder with the same name as the .zip filename. For example, a .zip file named "Image
Mockups" will be unzipped to a folder called "Image Mockups." Keep this in mind as you manually create folders
within the Secure Content Locker.

Using Secure Content Locker Sync to Manage Personal Content

The Secure Content Locker Sync (SCL Sync) application lets you add files to a shared folder on your computer that is then
synced with your Personal Content repository. This gives you access to those files on a mobile device or from the Self-
Service Portal (SSP). Adding files to your shared folder is easy – simply copy and paste or drag files into the folder and
they are automatically synced. In addition, Windows PC users can create and distribute shared links for content in the
Personal Content repository. These links allow others to access the content stored in your Personal Content repository
without you having to send the actual document, which keeps files in your control.

In This Section
l Prerequisites – View the prerequisites needed to use the SCL Sync application on your computer.

l Installing Secure Content Locker Sync – See how to download and install the SCL Sync application from the SSP.

Documents/Personal Content.
