IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER IN PREPARING

MAIN CONTENTS OF THE RESEARCH REPORT

On Rationale

- Describe the problem situation starting from the macro perspective

(global/national) down to micro perspective (local/institutional)
- Support the problem situation citing academic and legal authorities
- Justify the need for a study

On the Statement of the Problem

- First paragraph consist of the major problem

- Break the major problem into researchable sub-problems/specific
problems
-Sub-problems must be researchable, logically arranged (factual to
analytical), grammatically worded, and statistically analyzed.
-It should not be answered by YES or NO.

On the Importance of the Study

- Cite the importance of the study to individual and agency beneficiaries

and how the study benefits them.
-Start with the primary beneficiaries followed by secondary and tertiary
beneficiaries of the study in that order.

On Scope and Delimitation

- The first paragraph should contain the discussion for the cçp (coverage)
second paragraph, the delimitation of the study.
-Indicate the variables of interest to be included and to be excluded in
the study.

On Method of Research

- Indicate the method of research used by the team and indicate its
appropriateness in the study.
On Data-Gathering Instrument

-Indicate the principal instrument and subsidiary instrument, if there is;

how the items of the question were formulated.
-Indicate the validation of the instrument (to whom it was validated; how
it was validated; result of validation)

On Data Gathering Procedure

- Among others, indicate how the instruments was administered ; how it

was retrieved; percentage of retrieval
-If interview was utilized, explain how it was utilized.

On Data Analysis and Interpretation

-Indicate the statistical tool/s used in treating the data for each sub-
problem.

On Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation

-The tabular data must be sequentially and clearly presented according

to the sub-problem arrangement.
-The tabular data must be textually presented and analyzed and
supported by theories and authorities, if possible.

On Findings
-It must be in an outline form; must be based on the sub-problems
consisting of statement of facts woven into meaningful statement.
-It must be stated as concisely as possible.

On Conclusions

-These are general statements, which are valid outgrowth of the findings
and should properly answer the statement: “If the finding are like this...
then so what?”
-Findings are not conclusions and conclusions are not findings. Never
repeat the findings in the conclusion part.
On Recommendations

-Recommendations are aimed to solve problems, difficulties, weaknesses

that were found and discovered in the study. So never recommend
anything that was not found out in the study.
-Recommendations must be workable, feasible and implementable.

On References (Bibliography)

-They may be categorized according to books, periodicals, unpublished
