THE PAPARAZZI INDUSTRY

A paparazzo is a freelance photographer who chases celebrities to take


their pictures even though they are not allowed to

Weekly, or OK!. The same photo or video clip is sold to a number of

Perez Hilton, a famous blogger and a paparazzo, says he is happy to show the flaws and misfortunes of
celebrities in his blog, and he isn’t alone. In fact, there are so many paparazzi that the targeted

by them. However, they face a dilemma: if they don’t attract attention, they face the risk of

As in the case of George Clooney, who was accused of having anger-management issues, many
celebrities have to deal with paparazzi and the unfair (1)____________________ they make about
them everyday. So, how do paparazzi know where to find the celebrities? How are they able to picture
them in their most (2)____________________ moments?
The knowledge of famous people's whereabouts is (3)____________________ to paparazzi. Without it,
they couldn’t track their targets down to take their photos. In order to acquire that knowledge, they
need contacts, preferably on the inside, such as the person’s friend or assistant. Paparazzi usually

about them first. Also, they have financial arrangements with people who are close to the celebrities,
and they often make payments to these insiders. That is, the doormen, waiters, bar tenders, valet

of him or her. Typically teams of paparazzi surround a celebrity driving down a street. Sometimes there

and other people’s lives in danger. Paparazzi also hide in trees and bushes around celebrities’ houses,

up to you to decide if the paparazzi industry is really an abuse of the freedom of press or merely “the
