1. OBJECTIVE
The objective of this procedure is to outline the requirements to reduce the risk of
drowning when working on, over, in, or near water.

2. SCOPE
All personnel accessing RHEPP Project controlled areas and undertaking in
RHEPP controlled works are required to comply with this procedure, including
employees, contractors, and visitors.

3. DEFINITION

TERM DEFINITION
Spotter A person who’s duty is to observe personnel working on, over, in or
near water, and raise the alarm in the event of an emergency.
PPE PPE is equipment that will protect the user against health or safety
risks at work. It can include items such as safety helmets, gloves,
eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety boots
Special PPE A Specific PPE that will protect the user against health or safety
risks on specific work activity

Life Vest An equipment designed to assist a wearer to keep afloat in water.


The wearer may be either conscious or unconscious.
