Overall aim and context of the lesson

To work on the “On Holiday” unit, and introduce the students to the beach and what they
may see on it.

A lesson is giving knowledge that you have received to the less knowledgeable

other, and building on that consistently. The standards I am addressing are those of a
preschool classroom, such as my MST, I have observed her and taught according to her
standards along with some of my own ideas. The lesson is for the KG2-F classroom, and it
takes place in their classroom. The school textbooks are based on the British Curriculum, my
MST asked me to teach the students this lesson and to use their textbooks because they
needed to finish by this week. During the lesson I was introducing the students to the beach,
giving them an example of “Who goes to the beach? Can you tell me what you see in the
beach?” and that has the students analyzing (Bloom’s Taxonomy, which I learned in college
and implemented during my professional teaching), this pushes students to think further and
remember past events. I think they responded with different approaches, some mentioned the
sea whilst others mentioned their family, and I think that related to their understanding due to
their past memories and or vision they have of the beach. The students were very engaged
and actively responding to my HOTS questions. In their perspective, the students are being
re-introduced to something they recognized but this time with the correct name, and what it
is. My lesson met my teaching goals as the students were able to work on the activities and
textbook efficiently and within the allotted time. If I were to enhance their learning I would
love it if we could go out to a beach for a day of fun and learning, learning through play
ensures the knowledge and excitement of a new lesson.
