MW Composition 1

What I liked about Composition class

In the very beginning of the class, everything was explained very well on how the assignments were

going to be organized. Everything we did in the class was an learning experience for me. Some of the

assignments were a refresher to my mind because it has been awhile since I wrote certain type of

essays. The class was very entertaining and enjoyed watching all of the symbolism videos on YouTube

the way we did.

One of the skills that were very new to me was the pro and cons essay. That type of essay was very

hard for me too understand at first. I ended up watching a couple of Youtube videos trying to figure out

how to properly give the correct information. I had peers review my work to make sure I did it the

correct way. My skill was strengthen by this because it taught me how to properly write that style of

essay.

I feel like the main thing that could be enhanced about my writing is the lack I am able to type under

a certain amount of time and also the fist essay that we ever did in class. I believe the type of essay was

a review on anything of your choice, I picked a movie. The movie by Kevin hart and Dwayne the Rock

Johnson, it was hard for me to elaborate on how the movie was and what it could improve on. I can

improve on my skills to write that type of essay because I struggled a lot .

Once the class is over, I plan on improving this skill by looking up videos and studying new methods

because I learn the best by watching videos. If I try to follow steps by reading them usually I don’t get

What I liked about Composition class

the method that is being presented to me. I will also get tutoring from the tutors at Alvin Community

College.

The essay that was the easiest in my opinion was the essay where we had to tell the life story of

someone else. I found it the easiest and actually fun if you will, to tell a story about someone else. It is

not every day you get to tell someone else’s story. The most difficult one again was the first essay we

ever did and will also be. I will continue to research to get better at those types because I know that is

not the last time I will see that type of essay.

The skills I got from this class will take me far because when I write letters or send postcards, I will

know what the right way to send it is. If I decide I want to help family in the future, what better way

then to already know the information and not have to seek additional information. Knowledge will

always be power. This will also help in the workforce when you need to send an professional email or

even send something correct to the supervisor. Knowing these things gives you the upper edge in the

real world.

Everything that has been learned in this class has been very beneficial to me and I will continue to

improve my writing skills. All of the essays that I got back and saw errors helped and improved myself. It

sharpened my senses when it comes to writing an “perfect” essay or close to perfect. There is always

room for improvement no matter how much you know.
