3. Operation
The operation of the corner machine is shown by the figures.
The corner work cycle is subdivided into two phases:
PHASE 1: machining of head corners.

The glass sheet will reach the couple of corner spindles at the outlet
of the machine. The glass sheet is hooked by the pins, thus causing
the spindles to rotate. After having completed the work cycle, the
rollers will cause the spindles to move back to avoid any interference
with the passage of the glass sheet.
PHASE 2: machining of tail corners.

In this second phase, the corner spindles at the inlet of the machine
are activated by the pneumatic rollers in the proximity of the glass tail.
After having been placed thereon by means of the pins, they start
machining the glass sheet by following it. After having completed the
work cycle, the roller will cause the spindles to move back to avoid
any interference with the next glass sheet.
Note: the figure is referred to the operation of a corner machine for the right side, i.e. the glass sheet will move from
the right to the left. In case of a corner machine for the left side, consider the figure specularly.

4. Regulations
Regulation by the manufacturer
This regulation is performed by the manufacturer at the time of testing. It is necessary to arrange the corner
machines at the right work height. The user shall never act on this parameter on normal conditions.
Regulation of the glass thickness and grinding wheel consumption
This regulation will change the position of the grinding wheel, as it is shown by the figure. It can be done if
required by a variation in the glass thickness or by the consumption of the grinding wheel.

Regulation of the pneumatic pressure of rollers
This type of regulation will modify the behaviour of the rollers intended to manage the movement of corner
spindles.
Pressure gauges 1-down and 1-up will regulate the pressure of the rollers controlling the corner spindles for
the glass head. About 3 bar is the pressure value recommended for normal conditions.
Pressure gauges 3-down and 3-up, 2-down and 2-up will regulate the pressure of the rollers controlling the
corner spindles for the glass tail. In particular, whereas the first two regulate the pressure keeping the rollers
in a non-working position, the latter regulate the pressure, by means of which the spindles will follow the
glass sheet. This is the reason why the pressure of pressure gauges 2-down and 2-up shall always be higher
than the one of pressure gauges 3-down and 3-up.
About 5 bar and about 2 bar is the pressure value respectively recommended for 2-down and 2-up as
well as for 3-down and 3-up on normal conditions.

5. Maintenance
The maintenance required by corner spindles is described by chapter 7 of the “Manual for Installation, Use
and Maintenance” of the machine.
Change of grinding wheels
The direction of rotation of spindles shall always oppose the feed of the glass sheet, as it is shown by the
figure. To prevent the nut locking the grinding wheels from getting loose, the grinding wheel will be locked by
a right-hand screw thread for upper corner spindles and by a left-hand screw thread for lower corner
spindles.
To replace a worn grinding wheel, just unscrew the nut locking the grinding wheel (36-size wrench) while
keeping the spindle shaft locked (17-size wrench).

Belt pull
Check the tension of belts manually every 200 hours. If necessary, tension them by acting on the cam.
