Genre Analysis

For this assignment, I started by explaining the importance of genres, as to monographs,

anthologies, etc. as well as introducing my topic, which was overpopulation of animals as for the

audience to understand my genre analysis in a much deeper way. Later on, I defined

overpopulation of animals according to a dictionary and reviewed the importance of ethos,

pathos and logos on both chosen genres. For this analysis, I chose a digital documentary source

and a monograph; by comparing these two genres, I learned of how different sources gather their

information and use ethos, pathos and logos to get to connect with their audience. I also learned

that writing an analysis is not just analyzing the source; instead, it’s also giving your opinion as

to whether the use of ethos, pathos and logos was effective and giving an opinion as to whether

the sources were good enough to use and recommend.

Literature Review

For this assignment, I formally explained the chosen problem by introducing my topic; animal

overpopulation, as the topic I would be working with for the semester as well the mission to

raising awareness of this community problem to my audience. This literature review contains

detailed information on animal overpopulation, its problems and possible solutions to improving

it. Later on in this review, fourteen sources were required in order to explain animal

overpopulation from different points of view as well as different approaches as to how the role of

the community can also help improve this global problem. Finally, four research questions

concerning the chosen topic were added that would later on be answered in another assignment.

While creating this literature review, the most difficult task was gathering up the sources.

Fourteen sources are not easy to gather in an instant, therefore for this review I learned how to
revise well-structured sources and to check twice before including them in one of my

assignments as well as truly analyzing and picking my sources of information wisely and in the

correct manner in order to obtain a better grade.

Final Project/Video

For this last assignment of the semester, I joined research team #2 which had the topic of

racism. We created a video raising awareness of how racism has improved but it still a problem

we as a community continue to see. Working with teams is somewhat better than working alone

since one gets to be helped and help others as well but it also has its drawbacks such as getting

together, organizing the project and creating it. As any other method of working together,

creating a video is never easy, for it starts all in the head and works its way through the creation

of a well-structured film. The most difficult task we as a group had to overcome was getting

together to actually create the video, gathering up the information was easy, but the

unavailability of the team members was a major drawback. For this final project I not only

learned and improved my skills of working together with my classmates but I also grew aware of

the many problems that exist around the world and didn’t recognize them before as important at

all.
