I. The Planning Stage
Part one of exhibiting is determining what you want to get out of
the show.
Establish your Mission - Is your goal to build awareness, make sales,
or both? Do you want to introduce new products?
Determine Benchmarks - Is your success measured by the number of
leads, number of sales, number of new contacts, or all of the above?
Set Goals - What are your sales and marketing goals for the show?

It’s a Fact!
Exhibitors who carefully plan for their participation in a show and set
quantifiable sales-related objectives—such as number of leads, at-show
sales, and post-show sales—are more successful than those who don’t.

II. Pre-Show Promotion
Part two of exhibiting is promoting your company’s participation in
the show.
Identify Customer Contacts - Determine who you want to visit your
booth, reach your best customers and top prospects. Invite them to visit
the show, and of course encourage them to visit your booth!
February 24–26, 2008
Boston Convention and Plan Pre-Show Direct Marketing
Exhibition Center
Boston, MA USA n Send out promotional pieces (via mail, fax, and/or e-mail) before the
show with your booth number, product information, and show specials.
Place the official show logo with your booth number on your regular
mailings and daily invoices. Don’t forget to include the show name,

dates, and venue. The show logo sheets can be found on pages 22-24.
For e-marketing, you can download the IBSS/SPA logos from our website:
www.bostonseafood.com or www.seafoodprocessingamerica.com.
n Put the IBSS/SPA logo with a link to our website on your company’s
homepage. Visitors to your site will know your company is exhibiting
and have easy access to show information. To link to IBSS/SPA, follow
the simple instructions on our website: www.bostonseafood.com or
www.seafoodprocessingamerica.com.

Tuesday, February 26
10:00am - 3:00pm It’s a Fact!
Frequency will help fill your booth. Don’t assume that one pre-show
promotion or mailing will be effective. With each contact, the perception
of importance increases and a response is more likely. A second
promotion will usually increase the response rate by 50% and a third
promotion will draw an additional 25% response.

Pre-Show Promotion Tips that Increase Exhibiting Results

Set Up Meetings - Plan meetings and dinners with your best customers
and prospects well in advance of the show as their time will be booked
up early!
Send out a Pre-Show Press Release - Send a press release to your media

III. Your On-Site Presence
Part three of exhibiting is your on-site presence. To make your company
stand out from the crowd, plan an integrated marketing program consisting
of your exhibit display, Show Program advertising and sponsorships.

tising, direct marketing, Show Program advertising and sponsorships.

The Boston Show Daily allows sellers to focus on the seafood buyers who come to the show.
An ad or sponsorship in the Show Daily is the perfect complement to an ad program in SeaFood
Business and an exhibit at the International Boston Seafood Show.
Your ad or sponsorship will be the first read of the day—the Boston Show Daily’s first edition
is delivered right to the hotel rooms* reserved for the show—and on the show floor as seafood
buyers and your industry peers arrive at the show. Your advertising or sponsorship will:
Sunday, February 24
n Drive traffic to your booth
10:00am - 5:00pm
n Increase awareness of your product at the show
n Promote new product lines
Monday, February 25 n Highlight special events
10:00am - 5:00pm
Advertising opportunities are available in the opening day issue, or in a sponsorship package
Tuesday, February 26 covering all three days of the show. Availability is limited and will be on a first-come,
10:00am - 3:00pm first-served basis.

New Product Showcase and New
Product Competition

The International Boston Seafood Show offers two unique ways to gain greater
exposure for the new products you plan to introduce at the show – The New Product
Showcase and New Product Competition.
All food products entered for the Showcase and Competition will be displayed in special
new products area on the show floor. In addition to this exposure, all entered products
will be screened and finalists will be selected for tasting and evaluation in the New
Product Competition. A panel of distinguished seafood buyers will conduct the final
judging, which will take place during show hours in the Demonstration Theatre, located
on the show floor. Awards will be given for the Best Foodservice Product and the Best
Retail Product of the show. Winners will be announced on Sunday, February 24, 2008.

How to Enter
International Boston Seafood Show exhibitors may enter the New Products Showcase
and New Product Competition by completing the combined application and submitting
their entry fee.
Products will be evaluated on their uniqueness and appropriateness to the market.

Judging Criteria
• Taste profile (flavor, texture, aroma, cooked appearance)
• Packaging (label information, environmental factors, food safety)
• Market potential (potential for commercial success, correct packaging and
profile for target market, value, quality/price ratio)
• Convenience for end user and consumer
• Nutritional value
• Originality
Other Policies
Products may be entered in either the retail or foodservice category, but NOT BOTH.
Please choose the category that fits the primary market for your product.
All entry information, screening results, and judging scores and comments are strictly
confidential. Entry information identifying the winning products will be used in press
information announcing the winners.
The companies chosen as finalists in the New Product Competition will be notified in
early February. On Sunday, February 26th, finalists are responsible for preparing
their product and delivering it to the Demonstration Theatre for the judging at a
pre-determined time. Finalists can also hire Aramark Catering to prepare their
product, if necessary. Finalists are required to display the product in both raw and
prepared states, as well as display product packaging for the judges.

Deadline for entry is January 18th, 2008.
