RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:

TOPIC OF RESEARCH: ESTIMATION OF BETA TRANSUS TEMPERATURE IN AN ALLOY BASED ON

Ti-6Al-4V.
WORK DETAILS: To estimate beta transus temperature in Titanium based alloys, research studies
accomplished with variety of techniques and methods known as traditional metallographic methods,
Differential scanning calorimetry, Phase disappearing method and using simulation of phase kinetics etc.
During the research work, the results were obtained and analyzed the with the help of experiments like various
heat treatments with different operating conditions and using advanced scientific equipments like Bruker X-ray
diffractometr, Optical microscopy/image analysis-High resolution Microscopes for micrographs evolution,
EPMA analysis for Phase evolution and Mechanical properties were evaluated.
EXPERIMENTAL DETAILS AND CHARACHERIZATION: Samples- Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-6Al-1.5V-2.5Cu, Pure Ti.
1. Metallographic preparation of selected specimens: Specimen Cutting, Mounting, Polishing, Etching etc.
2. XRD study- for structural and phase transformation studies.
3. Electron Probe Micro analyzer-EPMA for Phase calculations.
4. Scanning Electron Microscope to analyze the elemental analysis and image processing.
RESULTS: Results were concluded as follows
1. The Estimated value of Beta transus temperature in Ti-6Al-1.5V-2.5 Cu was about 980±15 oC.
2. The Estimated value of Beta transus temperature in Ti-6Al-1.5V-2.5 Cu was about 930±15 oC.
