Tutor Mentor: Instructed fifth and sixth grade students, primarily English Language Learners and students with
special needs or identified as disadvantaged, in their Science and Reading classes. Tutored students one on one
and in small groups, both in their classes and by pulling them out for more intensive work in the library. Assisted
with testing accommodations.

Fluvanna County High School • Palmyra, VA • August-November 2018


Student Teaching: Taught twelfth grade English College Composition and Governor's School Seminar to
primarily gifted, high achieving students. Assumed full teaching responsibility for four classes with two
preparations. Focused on writing instruction, instilling reflective practices, and college readiness.

Teaching Practicum: Observed, tutored, and taught occasional lessons to seventh grade English Language Arts
students who were primarily identified as at risk or disadvantaged. Several students were English Language
Learners and/or had IEPs for learning and behavior disabilities.

Tutoring Practicum: Tutored ninth grade English Language Learners, primarily recent immigrants and refugees,
in a collaborative ESOL class. Conferenced with individual students about their reading. Facilitated and lead
small group discussions on literature. Assisted instructors with group projects and performances.

John Tyler Community College Writing Center • Chester and Midlothian, VA • January 2013-July 2015
Lead Tutor: Peer tutored students (ages 17-52) enrolled in developmental English classes, including recent
immigrants and former felons. Worked with disadvantaged students and English Language Learners who were not
yet reading and writing at college levels through one on one tutoring and small groups. Conducted individual
tutorials online over email or Google Drive. Assisted professors in their classrooms. Trained numerous new tutors
and created and maintained the center’s record keeping system so that the program could be externally evaluated.

Triple C Camp • Charlottesville, VA • June 2017-Present
Art and Drama Counselor and Year Round Programs Counselor: Designed, planned, and implemented art and
drama instruction with a wide range of fourth through seventh graders, from gifted campers to campers with
special needs, at an outdoor camp setting. Differentiated instruction to ensure camper safety and fun. Also
facilitated year round programs with adults, girl scouts, and birthday parties.

McGuffey Reading Center • Charlottesville, VA • January 2018-Present


Tutor: Perform one on one reading intervention with individual fifth grade students. Focused on fluency, word
knowledge, and reading comprehension and writing. Wrote Directed Reading-Thinking Activities (DR-TAs)
lesson plans for each week.

Saturday Enrichment Program • Charlottesville, VA • January 2018-Febuary 2018; January-February 2017


Drama Teacher (2018): Designed, planned, and taught drama class to gifted kindergarteners and first graders.

Program Assistant and Conversation Consultant: Chaperoned and tutored visiting groups of Chinese and Saudi
Arabian college-aged students. Tutored the students, all English Language Learners, in English, primarily
focusing on oral fluency and vocabulary. Organized outings around Charlottesville and to Monticello,
Washington DC, and Williamsburg.

UVA English Student’s Association (ESA) • Charlottesville, VA • May 2015-May 2016


Mentorship Chair: Established ESA with team of other undergraduates. Organized events for students, including
events focused around common reads and career readiness. Created a network of peer mentors with the intent of
helping underclassmen make informed decisions about the English major.
