Springs

Springs involves projecting oneself into the air. The movement requires power to explosively take
off.

Types of Springs
1. One foot to one foot (Leaps)

2. Feet to feet (Jumps)

3. Feet to hands (bunny hops, leap frogs and basic vaults)

Safety

- Ensure teaching correct landing technique, especially before springing activities on a height

- Use mats and ensure students do not land at the joins

- Firm matting is required when springing from the hands

- Must teach good body tension and management

General Key Teaching Points

- Explosive take offs

- Balls of feet strike first

- Followed by rapid ankle & knee extension and a strong swim of the arms in an upward and
