SECTION ‘C’ (30 MARKS)

ANSWER ALL THE QUESTION, ANSWER THE QUESTION IN THE ANSWER PAPER
PROVIDED.

Q1. Describe what are complex system in an aircraft is and describe how this influences an
engineer's responsibility.
Answer:

It is the aircraft system of having a wide variety of inputs. The system typically perform complex
modifications on these inputs or the inputs trigger complex responses. There may be a single
output, or many distributed outputs from the system.

The engineer will need to have carried out some form of system-specific training which would
have furnished him with an understanding of how it works (and how it can fail) and what is made
up of and how components can fail. It is important that the engineer understands enough about
the overall functioning of a large, complex aircraft.

Q2. Define visual inspection, and Describe the steps you would take to ensure an adequate
inspection has been carried out?
Answer:

It is defined as the primary method employed during maintenance to ensure the aircraft is in
good and airworthiness condition.

The followings are the steps would be taken to ensure an adequate inspection:
 Understand the area, component or system need to be inspected
 Locate the corresponding area, component or system on the aircraft itself
 Make sure the environment is conducive to the visual inspection task
 Conduct systematic by visual search like use eyes carefully to inspect the parts
 Examine thoroughly any potential degradation or defect
