Introduction:

In my rational I write about teaching literacy approach, that assist us to understand

what it is the technique we can use. So, I divide my paper into the different part that includes
the teaching phonics and the digital literacy, the reason why it is essential and identify two
programs that support the digital literacy. Besides, I support my opinion on this topic.

1-1Part A.

Through this part, I will introduce my rationale by define teaching phonics. It is the way
to recommend as the first strategy that children should be taught in helping them to learn how
to read and it is an approach to teach children to learn through letter sounds.
(phonicsplay.co.uk, 2014).

Or using the different technique such as guided reading and sharing reading that assists
children to get practice carefully about listening and identify exactly the right word. Besides,
the teaching phonics have six general approaches are: phonics, whole language, look and say,
analytic, synthetic and balanced. In this way give children to learn the relationship between
the words and the sound. (Carnine, 2014).

2-1 Part A

I chose one of the six approaches it called effectiveness of the balanced approach to
reading instruction. Those help children to improve the development of emergent literacy
knowledge. The emergent literacy it is the explanation of child’s understanding of writing
and reading skills before they recognize how to write and read words is called emergent
literacy. As a teacher by showing them as a guide to share the information.

And the teachers need to have a comprehensive knowledge of literacy development,

informed by evidence-based best practice. Through prepare and create a classroom culture
that fosters literacy motivation.

Teach reading for authentic meaning-making purposes: for pleasure, to be informed, and
to perform a task. Provide children with scaffolded instruction in phonemic awareness,
phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension to promote independent reading. Four, give
children time for self-selected reading that connected to part independent reading to see how
the children can learn and read by themselves.

Also, to know what it is the strong points and weak points through independent reading.
Besides, the purpose of learning to read for meaning, understanding, and enjoyment. (NEPC,
2016).

3-1 Part A

The definition of digital literacy it is: Digital literacy is "the ability to use information
and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information,
requiring both cognitive and technical skills." (Heitin, 2016).

The digital literacy it is critical to children to be able to understand using the digital
technology instead of by print paper in reading and writing as they are doing in traditional
literacy like write in the paper or the small board. Besides, the children can learn using those
digital techniques while they are playing and when integrating digital tools and technologies
to foster children’s curiosity, problem-solving and thinking skills. And it includes the inquiry
circle learning such as creativity, the ability to find and select information, and be effective
communication.

And give children opportunity to ask, think, create and investigate is a better fit than
traditional pedagogical practices for teaching and learning in a technologically mediated
world. And it helps them to develop the reading and writing skills a natural way. (Clifford
Brown, n.d)

1-1Part B
Our suggestion for parents can use digital literacy to help assist their children with the
development of emergent literacy knowledge, and it gives clear concepts to understand of how
they can use the digital literacy such as a computer, smartphones, iPad, tablets, and games
consoles within the home and the digital cameras, children are motivated to create their own
photographs and write captions representing their thoughts, and observation.

With giving them the right instruction of how they can use it. Also, it shows a
significant context of development and how the children can be developing the social and
cognitive development that according to interpersonal or social and emotional work critical
for children to get a massive development and help to recognize the children behave in the
home. (Melody M. Terras, 2016 ).

In addition, it maybe supports the development of skills and knowledge on the part of
children. And those include the technical and visual skills, it is give them the ability to
engage critically with texts and ideas. (Kontovourki, 2017).

2-1 Part B

Program 1:

Tittle: Intensive literacy program.

ADEC curriculum has a core subject of IC, this program assists children from age 8 to adult
to develop their skill in computer and which are present requirement in the current digital.

Usefulness of the program:

It is a free program.
This program includes the phonics, grammar, punctuation skills
included in a standard three syllabuses with texts can be selected for
older students.
It can use by one to one or with group member wave 2 or 3
interventions.

Feature this program:

The placement designed to help and assist instructor's student's starting,

Model from one to 15 it's free to anyone.
Besides, each model has two booklets, and the instruction in the
handbook is clear and explain step by step what they can do

This program tests it can be placement test for the instructor (teachers) also, it can be
placement test for students. (Websites, 2015).

Program 2

Tittle: SPELD SA Workshops.

Age target: year 1, year 2, year 3 and above.

ADEC curriculum:
These workshops assist children in the UAE with ADEC curriculum to develop their
language in English as a second language, and involved in many skills they have in
reading, writing, and speaking and their punctuations.

Usefulness:
It is not a free program, the people who want to join this program they need to pay before
entering. And this program divided into different term from one to four terms, Four-day
Sounds-Write Conference. It is more exciting and benefits program because it is developing
)our skills in English in different parts (Reading, writing, listing, and speaking).

Another reason, phonics program utilizing an exciting and highly successful

approach to the teaching of reading, spelling, and writing. This term can be used for parents,
teachers, and child to develop their approach to English.

Conclusion:

To recap up what I say in my rational, they are six approaches in teaching phocines, and
each of them works together to develop our skills in phonological awareness for child and the
teacher.
In my opinion, I sow it is essential to connect the digital literacy technology with
traditional literacy for children to learn and the parent need give their child support for it.
Because, it engages children to understand more about digital literacy and how to use the
technology likes computer, tablets, smart board to solve the problem and develop their thinking.
