THE  YOUNG  PRINCE

Once   upon   a   time,   there   was   a   young   prince   who   became   quite   ill.   As   a   result   of   his   illness,   he
developed  some  strange  ideas.  For  example,  he  became  convinced  that  he  was  a  cow.  Since  it  was
the  practice  in  his  religion  to  sacrifice  cows,  he  then  insisted  on  being  sacrificed  like  all  other  cows.

Many  famous  doctors  were  called  in  to  treat  him,  but  none  of  them  was  able  to  help  him.  Finally,
after  all  the  others  had  failed,  an  old  village  doctor  was  called.  The  old  doctor,  after  considering  the
case  carefully,  began  to  pretend  that  he  was  the  village  priest  and  that  he  had  come  to  sacrifice  the
prince.

He  took  out  a  long  knife  and  began  to  feel  the  prince’s  arms  and  legs  in  order  to  find  the  best  place
to  cut  him.  Then  he  suddenly  stopped.

“I  cannot  cut  this  animal  to  offer  it  as  sacrifice  to  the  gods”,  he  said.  “This  animal  is  much  too  thin
and  weak  to  sacrifice.  It  would  be  an  insult  to  offer  such  a  poor  specimen”.

The  prince  was  naturally  very  much  disturbed.  “But  you  must”,  he  insisted.

“Surely  you  agree  with  me,  Your  Highness”,  persisted  the  old  doctor.

“If  I  must  get  fatter,  then  I  shall  do  so”,  the  prince  finally  agreed.  He  therefore  began  to  eat  and  drink
large  quantities  of  food.  He  ate  and  ate,  and  as  the  weeks  passed,  he  became  much  fatter.  But  at
the  same  time,  his  strength  also  increased,  and  his  health  improved.  In  fact,  he  soon  felt  so  much
better  that  he  forgot  all  about  being  a  cow.

NATURAL  ENERGY

When  most  of  us  hear  the  word  “diet”,  we  immediately  think  about  trying  to  get  slim.  However,  a
diet  should  be  about  more  than  just  trying  to  lose  weight.  What  we  eat  should  keep  us  fit  and
healthy  and  make  us  feel  energetic.  With  the  right  eating  plan,  anyone  can  feel  great.

One  of  the  best  ways  to  keep  your  energy  levels  high  is  to  eat  small  snacks  frequently  throughout
the  day.  Having  several  light  meals  keeps  your  blood  sugar  at  a  healthy  level  and  stops  you  from
experiencing  the  symptoms  of  low  blood  sugar  (hunger,  dizziness,  confusion).  Eating  nothing  all
day  and  then  having  a  large  evening  meal  will  not  only  make  you  fell  exhausted,  but  also  make
you  gain  weight.

People  who  are  trying  to  lose  weight  often  miss  breakfast.  They  are  not  making  life  easier  for
themselves  by  doing  this.  Breakfast  is  the  most  important  meal  of  the  day,  and  without  it  your
body   will   not   work   properly.   Eating   a   small,   low-fat   breakfast   will   give   you   the   energy   and
nutrients  you  need  to  get  through  the  morning.  Try  fresh  fruit,  juice,  toast  and  honey,  or  cereal.

Although  many  of  us  drink  coffee  to  “keep  ourselves  awake”,  caffeine  (which  is  in  coffee,  tea,  or
carbonated  drinks)  can  actually  make  us  feel  even  more  tired.  Next  time  you  reach  for  some
coffee,  stop  and  have  a  glass  of  water  instead.  Without  plenty  of  water,  you  will  feel  exhausted
and  may  suffer  from  headaches.  You  should  drink  at  least  eight  glasses  of  water  everyday  –
Your  body  needs  it.

Vitamin   C   is   extremely   important.   It   keeps   us   healthy   and   helps   our   blood   absorb   iron   and
calcium.  The  most  important  source  of  vitamin  C  is  fresh  fruit  and  vegetables,  so  you  should  eat
a  variety  of  these  every  day.  Citrus  fruit,  strawberries,  and  tomatoes  are  all  rich  in  vitamin  C,  and
delicious,  too!

It  doesn’t  take  much  effort  to  eat  healthy  and  you  will  soon  feel  the  benefits.  The  right  diet  will
make  you  feel  full  of  energy.  Losing  weight  is  not  important.  The  secret  is  that  when  you  feel
good,  you  look  good!

THE  THREE  WISHES

Long  ago,  there  lived  a  couple  who  had  a  dairy  farm.  They  were  poor  and  spent  much  of  their  time

wishing  for  things  they  didn’t  have.

Often  the  man  would  say,  “I  wish  I  were  handsome”,  or  “I  wish  I  had  more  cows”.

Frequently  the  woman  would  say,  “I  wish  I  were  wealthy”,  or  “I  wish  I  were  a  beautiful  princess.”

One  day,  some  fairies  heard  their  wishes  and  decided  to  conduct  an  experiment.  They  went  to  the

couple  and  granted  them  three  wishes.  Whatever  they  wished  would  truly  be  granted.

The   couple   talked   a   long   time   over   what   they   should   wish   for.   But   after   a   while   they   became

hungry,  and  from  force  of  habit  the  woman  suddenly  said,  “I  wish  I  had  some  sausages  to  eat.”

Immediately  her  market  basket  was  full  of  sausages.

Then  a  heated  argument  began  because  the  husband  said  that  his  wife  had  wasted  one  of  their

valuable   wishes   on   such   a   cheap   thing   as   sausages.   The   argument   grew   hotter,   and   finally   in

anger  the  wife  said,  “I  wish  these  sausages  were  hanging  from  your  nose!”

Of  course  the  sausages  immediately  flew  to  the  poor  man’s  nose  and  stayed  there.  Nor  could  they

be   removed.   Now,   there   was   only   one   thing   the   poor   woman   could   do.   She   really   loved   her

husband,  and  so  she  had  to  spend  their  third  wish  in  removing  the  sausages  from  his  nose.  Thus,

except  for  a  few  sausages,  they  had  nothing  to  show  for  their  three  wishes.
