SENIOR PROJECT SELF-EVALUATION

Directions: Utilize this worksheet to help evaluate yourself and your project. Be as complete
and descriptive as possible. This self-evaluation should give the scoring team and your teacher a
clear picture of what you accomplished in your project.

Name - Jonah Graham Project Start Date – January 30, 2018

Title of Project - Support Sustainable Project Completion Date - March 30

1. In 40 words or more describe who your project benefited and how. In other words, what was the
impact of your project?

My project benefited Buy Fresh Buy Local Hampton Roads because that is who the fundraiser was for. I
think it also benefited the local vendors that participated in my event because they had a chance to reach
out to new people and to potentially gain new customers. Also, I would hope that the majority of the
people that attended would have benefited from my project because it was supposed to be educational.

2. In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch for you?

This project challenged me by making me work when I didn’t want to because I had to meet short
deadlines. It challenged me by making me reach out to many people and communicate with them. Also, it
forced me to multitask more than I ever had because I had to stay on top of all the different aspects of my
project while not forgetting about other homework or GSA.

3. List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which you
learned/enhanced during your project.

● Communication- Project forced me to communicate with many new people and to communicate
the idea of my project to probably the largest crowd I’ve spoken to.
● Patience- My patience was tested more than it ever has been because the owner of the venue I
wanted was very busy and then out of town while I was trying to book my venue.
● Procrastination- I think I enhanced my ability to work when I feel like procrastinating because the
project was not something I could put off. I was constantly working on it.
● vHow to organize an event- Although I don’t think this project made me any kind of expert on
managing events, it definitely helped me improve.
● Advertisement- I did not advertise as much as I would have liked, but I learned different methods
of how to get people to come to an event.

4. List and describe 4-8 problems/obstacles/issues you encountered in your project, and briefly
describe how you solved each.

● Communication- Many people did not respond to me or waited very long periods of time to get
back to me which caused lot of stress.
● New Project- I have never really organized an event like this so it was a very large obstacle.
● Limited Time- It was hard to get so much done in what seemed like very little time.
● Technical Difficulty- This is a smaller issue, but during my presentation at my event my remote
to click through the slides stopped working, so I had to bend over and change slides on the
computer while presenting.

5. List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given.

● Dr. Sullivan- helped me develop my idea for my project, kept me on task, gave me weekly tasks
and goals to accomplish, was very supportive, and helped advertise my event
● Mrs. V.- helped me form ideas of my event and how to turn my paper into a project, helped give
me ideas
● Commune- everyone from Commune was very helpful during the event, they donated their space
and food
● Rachel Bean (from BFBL)- helped advertise, set up online ticket sales, and helped me connect
with another vendor
● New Earth Farm- opened their organic food market
● Honey Badger Honey- set up table, gave samples, and informed people of their practices
● Pungo Tuck Beef- set up table, gave samples, and informed people of their practices
● Cartwright Family Farms- set up table, gave samples, and informed people of their practices
● Westside Produce and Provisions- set up table, gave samples, and informed people of their
practices

6. How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started the
project? Explain the reason behind any changes from your proposal.

I just had a vague idea of what to do so what my project actually turned into was very different than
my proposal. I started with wanting to have my project at New Earth Farm to give people a tour of a
local farm. This changed, however, to be more convenient because the farm was in Pungo. I also was
not planning on having vendors at my event.

7. If given the opportunity, explain what you would have done differently now that you speak from
experience?

I would have advertised a lot more and tried to make a better presentation. The main thing that I wish
was different about my project would be that more people came so advertising more is probably the
main thing I’d change.

8. Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself? What did you get out of the
experience in terms of personal growth?

I learned that I am capable of being a lot more productive than I am on a regular day. This is due to
having to get so much done in a short time period. In terms of personal growth, I think that I matured by
doing this project because it forced me out of my comfort zone in many ways.

9. What grade would you give yourself on the project? Be honest! Justify the evaluation of your
grade in at least 25 words.
Grade: A

Justification: My primary focus from the time I started my project to when it ended evolved around
getting my project done and making it the best I can. I sacrificed a lot of time I would usually spend on
other activities to get my project done and overall I think it was a good turnout.
