Lesson Schedule
Targeted teacher questions to promote HOTS:
Student communication and use of math language: using their hand to solve multiplication problems
Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge): Time:
At the begin of the lesson I will ask the student to set at the carpet then I will greet the students, I will tell
them that we are going to complete taking about arrays. And we are going to review the meaning of
arrays. I will ask students to remind me of the meaning of it and what do we mean by the column and row.
After they say it they will have a mini work sheet I will show the review sheet in the presentation and explain
it for them. Students have to see how many row and column each array have they will do it in the carpet.
To make sure that the student knows how to solve multiplication by arrays we are going to solve it in 10min
presentation in the board. I will model the first multiplication problem then let the student to do it in the
board.
Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures):
In the power point I will show an example of array and I will tell the students what is the multiplication
problem is? How we can know what are the numbers that show the multiplication problem? I will model the
questions for them in the board. then I will ask them to answer the next questions in the board.
I will give the student in Paris to do the eye arrays they have to know what the multiplication problem from 15min
the eyes arrays also they have to write the repeated addition to know the answer of it. first, I will show an
example of how they will solve it then I will ask them to choose a partner and I will give them the paper
then they have to grab a pencil or marker form their tables and solve the problem. Then some of them can
share what the problem they have and how they solve it.
Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment):
then they will have the sticker dot arrays worksheet they have to know what the multiplication problems is
and what is the answer they have problems to solve by sticker the dot.
The groups are divide to 4 groups high low and two middles. The student’s groups will display in the board,
so they can know which groups to go.
The High group which is cuboids group activity they will have a worksheet have an blank Arrays they will 15 min
through a dice and do arrays from the number that will show in the dice and write it as a multiplication
problem and they will write the answer.
The medium group which t prisms group they will be divided to two groups, but they will have the same
activity will have the sticker dot arrays they have to sticker the dot depends on what the multiplication
problems is asking for in the work sheet. multiplication problems by 2,3
The low group which is pyramids group they will have the sticker dot arrays worksheet the different they
will have the multiplication problems by 5,2
Then we will come back to the carpet then we will play a game in the board. they have to know how much
all the circles is together and if they get it right they will go to the next question.
