Abstract
Part of a broader research devoted to understanding the phenomenon of addiction in
terms of the Eastern Patristic notion of passion, this paper aims to argue the rel-
evance of identifying a Patristic model of human behavior, in this case, by investi-
gating the work of St. Maximus the Confessor and outlining some possible paths to
follow in this regard. The main part of the paper explores St. Maximus’ idea of three
major realities, God, the nature, and the world, that lead or attract human matters
and therefore model human behaviour.
