Students will be able to restate how to make the improper fractions to mixed numbers by
using the steps of conversion.

Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge): time:


The teacher will give each group a paper that shaped like a happy face for the quiz and after 3 min the 5min
teacher will discuss two questions with the students in the board. (3 min)
After that, the teacher will give each group a puzzle of happy face and students should arrange the photo
to know the tittle of the lesson. (2 min)
Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures): 35min
The teacher will review for student’s three lessons which are adding fractions, subtracting fraction and
improper fraction. The teacher first will review the first lesson which is how to add fractions and she will
model in the board how to add fractions by putting the denominators same without adding them and just
add the nominators and if the answer needs simplification we simplify it and we can know how to simplify
it by looking at the greatest common factor (10 min).

After that, the teacher will give each group a spinner that has different numbers and a worksheet so
students should retain the spinner and from that they will solve the addition operation. Students in groups
will train the pinner and solve the addition operation and write the answers on the paper (5 min).

Then, the teacher will model in the board two examples about how to subtract fractions by using UAE
moneys because subtracting and adding the fractions have same steps but the operations is different.
Then the teacher will give each group small ball that have subtracting operation and one small board and
students in groups will solve the operation on the small board. Then students will open their book page
603 and solve questions from 1 to 4 (10 min)

After that, the teacher will review in the board how to make the improper fractions to mixed numbers the
teacher will say ( If we are converting from improper fractions to mixed number we should put the
denominator the same and think about the products of multiplications and then we write the factor on
the left side and we think what is the reminder to reach to the nominator and we write the number). The
teacher will model two examples in the board. Then, the teacher will give each group a box that shaped
like a happy face and it contains three questions about how to make the improper fractions to mixed
numbers. After that, students will open their textbooks page 603 and solve questions from 5 to 8 (10 min).

Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment): 5min


The teacher will give each group a happy face that is on the stick and it contains 3 questions about the
review and small black paper and students in groups will solve the questions.
