A plan that the community may use to conserve and protect its resources

for future generations

Community service ideas can include a simple one-off act or an ongoing

commitment to a project or organization. Everyone has different amounts of
time and energy that they can lend to the community, but a lot of people
are concerned about the environment. Luckily, you can do a few simple
things to help the community and the environment at the same time,
without stretching your own personal resources too thin. As an individual,
there are lots of things you can do, starting with not littering or polluting.
Dispose of everything properly and even better, reduce your waste so that
there is less to return to the landfill. Compost your food scraps and other
compostable, to return nutrients to the soils. Lobby to have cleaner waters
and air in your part of the world and make submission whenever new
project are proposed that might cost more destruction of nature. Think
before assuming that all human activities are either necessary of have to be
done as they currently are—think about a cleaner future and what it would
take to get as there. That is a positive thing to do, not a scary thing at all.
Here are some ideas to get you started: Start a garden or plant a few trees.
The best way to get the community involve in the sort of endeavor is to
make a garden a shared project for your neighborhood or town. When
planting trees, consider placing them in an area where members of the
community can enjoy them. Go door to door collecting old phone books and
other unusable paper items. Bring them to a recycling plant. Clean up
garbage along a hiking or biking trail, or even just on the side of the road.
Parks can be especially prone to littering, as are some stretches of highway.
Just remember to observe safety precautions if you’re in an area with traffic.
Try to organize an energy audit for your school, workplace, or community
center. Maybe the local legion could use an upgrade, but they don’t have
the money to hire an auditor. Try some fundraising activities to help
mitigate the costs of any environmentally friendly changes that might be
necessary. A lot of community service ideas involve recycling. If you have a
lot of time, organize a recycling fair or group activity of some sort. You could
use the proceeds from bottles and cans for a group party, or you could put
the money back into the community by donating to a charity, local sports
team, or campus club. If everyone pitched in just a little bit, we could come
up with thousands of simple community service ideas to help the
environment. No effort is too small if you are working toward a healthier
environment.

This are the some ideas that will help you learn how to take care of our
natural world. Protect the environment. Go on a hike. Use only the trails
that already exist, and walk in the middle of the trail. Do not touch or take
any artifacts or plants. If you see any wildlife, keep a safe distance and do
not try to feed them. Never leave trash of food on the trail. Participate in an
overnight camp. Use only the campsites that already exist, and do not alter
the site. Camp on durable surfaces, such as packed dirt or rock, and make
sure your site is at least 200 feet (61 m) away from any lakes, rivers, or
streams to avoid contaminating water resources. Store food and trash
properly in sealed containers to avoid attracting animals to your campsite.
Preserve and restore the environment. Clean up a local natural resource.
Find a natural resource near where you live, and plan a service project to
pick up all the trash or debris in the area. Use this activity to explore the
correct ways to dispose of garbage, such as burning, burying, or removing.
You may need to ask local authorities to teach you about the disposal
methods that are proper for your area. Never leave any trash food or litter
on the ground. Bury all human waste in holes at least 6 inches (15 cm) deep
and 200 feet (61 m) away from water, campsites, and trails. Teach others
how to take care of the environment. Invite friends to come camping with
you. Show courtesy to other in your area by regulating how much noise you
make. Trail maintenance. Plan an activity to help rebuild, mark, or establish
a nearby trail. Purify a local water resource. Invite someone with knowledge
and experience to teach you about the problems with water pollution in
your area. Go to a local water resource and help clean out trash. Practice
clean water skills, and do your part to prevent water pollution. Plant trees.
Learn about the problems with air pollution and erosion in your area. Find
an area and plant some trees to help decrease air pollution and erosion.

How to save environment? We should save drinking water. Water is a

precious component of our environment. It should never be wasted. We
should never pollute water. Efforts should be made in making significant
reduction in both domestic and industrial disposal in water bodies. As far as
practicable, the waste products should be recycled to make new items there
domestic and industrial garbage should be segregated as recyclable and
non-recyclable before being dumped. There should be a zero tolerance
policy towards deforestation. Each one of us can contribute towards saving
the environment by planting just one tree every-month we can make
donations to NGOs that are engaged in planting trees, or in any-way working
towards saving the environment. Safer environmental friendly car and
vehicles should be used. For short distances, people should be encouraged
to use bicycle in place of motor based vehicles. The use of environment
unfriendly materials such as plastic should be discouraged. A lot of
environmental problems would disappear if we stop using petroleum, coal
and natural gas as raw-materials for power generation. The focus should
entirely shift on renewable sources of energy. The use of renewable sources
of energy (example solar energy) would help saving the environment form
global warming.

Why should we save environment? Global warming is a serious

environmental issue. The continuous emission of carbon dioxide by thermal
power generating units is the leading cause for the surge in greenhouse
gases. Natural resources are limited. If the natural resources such as oil,
coal, etc. are used, one day the world may fall short of these resources.
High-level of environmental pollution is detrimental for human and animal
health. Forests are fast depleting. It may cause soil erosion and drought
situation. Excessive use of pesticides and contamination of soil have
negatively affected soil output. These fruits and vegetables are not very
healthy for human health.

Resources include everything from food and water to energy and

minerals. The resources on earth provide living species with food, nutrients
and water, help to sustain jobs and incomes around the world and support
the growth and transformation of economies and industries. Food and
water supplies are essential to allow life to continue around the world and
can be protected through legal and political measures, such as the
implementation of laws and policies to allocate and distribute resources
evenly among consumers. The fields of science and technology also facilitate
the preservation of resources, as they help farmers grow and produce
larger, hardier and more diverse selection of crops and herbs. Energy, often
overlooked, another important natural resources that comes from several
sources, including finite sources like oil, coal and other nonrenewable
materials. Legal and political measures, such as the implementation of laws
and policies to regulate and moderate extraction, can help make these
resources last longer. Simultaneously, the introduction of new energy
sources, thanks to science and technology, facilitates resources
sustainability. Conserving energy is important because using non-renewable
energy sources has a detrimental impact on the environment. The total
effect of these environmental changes has led to global warming at a level
that threatens the long-term stability of life. People use non-renewable
sources of energy almost every day. When lights, appliances and electric
heating and cooling devices are powdered using electricity that comes from
coal-fired power plants, the resulting emissions harm the surrounding air
quality. Gasoline burned by vehicles sends pollutants into the air. Conserving
energy by using less electricity and minimizing the use of gas-burning
transportation leads to fewer toxins entering the environment. It also
reduces demand for the use of non-renewable energy. It is impossible to
reduce energy consumption to zero because of the lifestyle needs that
people have in modern society. However, converting from non-renewable
energy resources to renewable once reduces the negative impact of energy
consumption of the environment. Electricity that comes from solar panels or
wind turbines does not release toxic emissions into the atmosphere.
Changing from gas-powered to electric-powered vehicles or gas-electric
hybrids also reduces harmful emissions and contributes to higher air quality.
These conservation measures can help to slow the trend of global warming.
Definitions of energy conservation vary, but all of them include avoiding the
use of electricity when it is not needed. Many people get in the habit of
leaving the lights on when they leave a room; turning them off is a form of
energy conservation. Some people fall asleep with the television on, wasting
electricity. Using the sleep button, which turns the televisions off after they
have fallen asleep, reduces total energy usage. Heating and cooling account
for a significant amount of the energy people use. Opening the windows to
let light in instead of using electrically powered lightning is a form of energy
conservation. Similarly, wearing warm clothing and turning the heating
down a bit can lead to lower energy use. Some people view energy
efficiency as a form of energy conservation, but this usage is not accepted
by all. However, the two concepts are related. Installing better insulation,
for example, allows homeowners to run their heating and cooling systems
less, which is a form of energy conservation by way of better energy
efficiency.

What are some ways to reduce global warming? Effective measures in

reducing global warming include minimizing the reliance on non-renewable
energy, incorporating energy system that are powdered by renewable
energy, increasing fuel efficiency for transportation, cutting down on
tropical deforestation and building cleaner, greener homes and
communities. Ordinary citizens are also empowered to lobby the
government to implement stricter legislation in imposing limits on carbon
emissions and other greenhouse gases. Earth absorbs solar energy to warm
its surface, releasing some of the energy into the surroundings in the form
of heat. When heat cannot escape back into space, the planet’s temperature
continually increases, which leads to serious environmental and health
concerns. Global warming is primarily caused by the heat-trapping
mechanism of greenhouse gases, or GHG’s, in a phenomenon known as the
greenhouse effect. The main source of greenhouse gas emissions is the
combustions of fossil fuels. Primary GHG’s include carbon dioxide, nitrous
oxide and methane. Fossil fuels, such as coal, natural gas and oil, are non-
renewable sources of energy. The industry and majority of households
heavily depend on these materials to power machinery, heating systems,
appliances and other electrical devices. These activities directly contribute
to global warming. One way to reduce consumption of these resources is to
incorporate the use of solar, wind and geothermal energy, which generate a
cleaner source for power. Installing energy efficient products, such as those
marked with the Energy Star label, also help in reducing global warming,
according to Natura Resources Defense Council. Rural communities lead in
the creation of a sustainable world for both people and nature. We believe
that the preservation of biological diversity, ecosystems, and natural places
is critically important to the survival of us all—people, plants, and animals
alike. In addition to the intrinsic value of nature and wildlife, biological
diversity and healthy ecosystems provide humankind with many of the
things that sustain our lives, including clean air and water, fertile soil, a
stable climate, food, medicines, materials and technologies, and a diversity
of genes and species—not to mention recreational opportunities and
natural beauty.
One of our fundamental beliefs is that the people who live near or in a
threatened ecosystem are those who are best positioned to repair and
protect that system for the long term. Or, put another way, we believe that
when people understand that their quality of life is reliant upon the health
of their natural environment and that they have a direct hand in identifying
and creating ways to protect and sustainably use their natural resources,
both nature and people are served. In all of our work, EcoLogic acts
strategically, community by community, building in common interests and
goals, to create alliances that will lead to cumulative, positive impacts—
impacts that are not just local but on a regional scale and beyond. It is
through collaboration that we believe humankind will achieve positive,
sustainable change. And although the environmental threats are imminent
and the conservation challenges real, we are confident that through mutual
cooperation and respect we still have time to conserve and protect our one
shared planet, Earth.

We must engage in activism. Contact your government officials. Call or

email your congressional representative and local officials. Ask them to
support environmental conservation and renewable energy. Participate in
rallies. Most cities hold rallies to raise awareness of environmental issues. To
be effective, these demonstrations need lots of people. Attend a rally in
your community. Make signs to carry during the demonstration to convey
your message. Recruit family members and friends to join you. Join an
environmental organization. Choose an organization that focuses on an
aspect of the environment, such as Greenpeace, the Sierra Club or the
Environmental Defense Fund, and become a member. Write a letter to the
editor. Use the news media to highlight environmental issues. Write a letter
to the editor about fossil fuels or endangered animals. This can help start a
dialogue in your community about a particular environmental issue.
Alternately, propose writing an opinion editorial for your local newspaper.
Donate to an environmental cause. Choose an organization working on an
environmental issue. Donate money to this organization. Many
organizations have different giving levels, from very small amounts to large
amounts. Choose to give monthly or annually. Donations to nonprofit
organizations are tax-deductible. Ask for a receipt so that you can deduct
this donation in your taxes. Volunteer your time. Pick up litter, educate
others, fix bikes, start a repair café, plant trees, observe birds and animal
populations. These are many ways you can create and promote a better
environment by volunteering.
