Trazer a discursão do público x privado, a extrema área verde
de lazer, a arquitetura clara e precisa, a ‘classe operária’ e a ‘classe burguesa’, todos
coniventes em um espaço unificado.
The present research starts from a very recurrent urban planning problem in cities
with great tourism potential: the socio-spatial conflicts resulting from urban expansion,
where, in one hand, there is corporate urban development, focusing on those who use
land as the currency of Exchange, and on the other hand the excluded social groups
(Lobato, 2010), that occupy areas of landscape interest.
In order to study this problem so common in Brazilian cities and to point out new
horizons for this historic class struggle, we start with a case study in an area of old dump
in the city of Maceió - AL, which has great landscaping potential due to its Geographical
position (visibility to the sea and considerable altitude).
Since mid-2013, the area has begun to be a focus of real estate speculation and
to grow in an orderly way to the high stated public, initiating a process of gentrification,
revealing a development of commercial, residential and/or tourist investments that
violate the preservation of nature and erase the local memory. The Emater Village,
popularly known in Maceió as Favela do Lixão, for being located next door and
withdrawing the livelihood of the city's landfill, even after its deactivation, maintained its
public space. For a long time, this population was forgotten by the public power, without
having its basic needs met, building its structure with mud streets, open pits, families
being crowded in poorly distributed spaces and portraying them as social invisibles.
The work in question aims to develop a social and urban analysis in the area of
the old dump of the City of Maceió, aiming at the implementation of a Cultural Center
that proposes a historical respect to the district of Jacarecica and to the Garbage
Collectors history, a space of investment and conscious development to the north coast
of the City; A space of learning and self-knowledge, presenting to the population a place
of recognition and empowerment.
In order to give life to the ideal scenario of the locality, a design solution was
proposed which values the social junction from its concept: Puzzle, a game that amplifies
the reasoning, its assembly is about pieces that complement each other to build a good

larger image. Put together pieces that allow the analysis and understanding of the whole
social part, allowing the visitors to get to know the diversities of the city of Maceió.
The main challenge of the project was to elaborate something that won't dramatize
the less favored class and also won't alienate the wealthy, generating a dialogue
between classes, so that gentrification does not grow. It develops a project that has full
integration and direction to a fundamental point: The community of Emater Village. So
that, the residents feel represented by the proposed architecture and that they recognize
themselves as part of the construction of the local history.
