In the story Robinson Crusoe, Man Friday asked why
doesn’t God just kill the devil and stop all the evil?
Crusoe’s answer was “You may as well ask why God
doesn’t kill you and me when we do wicked things.”
God’ patience with us is astounding. He longs so
much for us to repent, that He gives us plenty of time
and opportunity. When Sodom and Gomorrah were to
be destroyed because of their widespread iniquity, God
said He would spare the city if fifty righteous could be
found. What if forty-five ? Or forty? Finally, if He found
only ten righteous, God would show mercy. God is
patient and merciful.
I believe the church is the hope of the world. I believe
as long we are righteous and seek God, America will
be spared. Our National Day of Prayer is May 3. May
repentance and revival begin in the house of God.
Our mission is to make disciples. Salvation is the
important first step. That is why we share the gospel
whenever we can.
In the month of May we will recognize graduates,
dedicate babies/children, and remember those who have
gone to heaven. I’m glad our church is still like a family.
That is the way it should be.
Speaking of family, God has been sending a steady
supply of new families to Eastmont. Thanks for inviting
and welcoming them.

something in front of you. Has God placed someone
around you that needs encouragement, comfort or
salvation?
I brag to my pastor friends that I am blessed to be
pastor of the finest people anywhere. This is not just the
place I work, you are my spiritual family. I treasure my
years of ministry with you.

STUDENT MINISTRY

HELPING HANDS MINISTRY
Each Spring our students offer services to anyone wanting
certain chores or tasks performed in or around their home.
This ministry is a way to raise funds toward the student
mission trip. Call the church office and speak to Karen
Bush to request a service project.
SUMMER MISSION TRIP - NASHVILLE
Our students will attend MFuge this Summer in Nashville,
Tennessee, June 25-30. The total cost to attend is $300 per
person. Registration forms are available. $75 reserves a
spot. Deadline to register is April 29. Speak to Cleve or
Karen for more details.
GRADUATE RECOGNITION SUNDAY
On May 6 we will honor the high school graduates from
our student ministry. The day will consist of memory
tables, a slideshow, and a luncheon for the graduates and
families. All the details have been mailed to the graduates’
families.
1J2 Summer Clubs
This Summer we will see changes to our format for 1J2.
We will be launching a second site in addition to our Hyde
Park location. Pray now for the coming changes. Details
will be printed soon.

A Thursday night worship gathering for 18-25 year olds at
Cloverdale Baptist Church. Starts at 7pm.

Mission intensive in Clarkston, GA where we become better
equipped to boldly share the Gospel with the nations.

Mission Yard Sale Thanks
Thanks to all of those who donated, sorted, priced, lifted,
& bought the items for our Spring Yard Sale! We ended
up raising over $14,600 which is the largest amount
ever!! It was truly a church-wide effort! Next yard sale is
September 30 - October 6.

2018 Disability Expo
May 8, 1-6 PM in the Fellowship Hall
Empowering people with disabilities of all ages with
information, resources and technology. Save the date and
make sure to come and join us on May 8th! Around 100
vendors, covering a variety of programs and services, will
be on-hand to answer your questions and help get you
connected. See you there!
Deacon Retreat 2018
Alabama Baptist Deacons Retreat for 2018 is being held
at Shocco Springs during a two-day event. The 2018
Program starts at 2 PM on August 10, 2018 and will be
completed at 4 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018. Deacons
and laymen are encouraged to attend as part of your
spiritual growth. Tremendous speakers are lined up for
this retreat, and hope you will make a commitment and
make it a priority in your life. To make a reservation or
for more information, contact Dick Byers at 279-8335.
