Research Proposal
1. The inquiry question that I will be researching is how does child hunger in rural,
2. The primary purpose of this research topic is to explore how many, and to what extent,
children in the rural, Southern America are affected by hunger. By researching this topic,
I plan on discovering how badly the children of the environment that I live in are
suffering from child hunger and how many children are having to go through this. My
plans are to learn about the physical and emotional tolls that are being put on the children
who are faced with this hunger and what circumstances in their life they are not able to
achieve do to their hunger. By searching this topic, I will be able to find the problems that
children in my surrounding area face and can potentially help to find a solution or at least
put my efforts toward helping stop the problem. The main reason that I picked this topic
is because when we as Americans think of child hunger, we always think of places like
third world countries; however, many Americans do not realize that child hunger in
America is actually a big problem. I want to bring to light this problem so that others can
learn about how people in there own country are suffering through things we never
imagined possible in America. Although I never have been personally affected by hunger,
I have seen the effects of it in my own county and how badly it actually is. When
volunteering with one of my school clubs, we packed book bags for elementary kids for

the weekends so they would have food. Upon packing all the bags, we ended up packing
over 150 bags full of food. In a small country like mine, that is a lot of bags of food for
children and it made me realize that the problem of child hunger is a big problem in
Southern America and I want to find out the consequences of this on these children.
have concerning my topic, I do not honestly have anything other than the fact that it is a
problem. To what extent is it a problem? I am not sure and I aim to find out with this
research paper. The only prior belief I could say I have is that the fact I do not want this
to be a problem, but, in all honesty, who does want this to be a problem? So in that since,
