- Good Afternoon everyone, before I go to our formal presentation, let me first show you a short

Introduction:

- ASEAN is a 10-member international body which is comprised of the member states:

1. Brunei
2. Cambodia
3. Malaysia
4. Myanmar
5. Philippines
6. Indonesia
7. Laos
8. Singapore
9. Thailand
10. Vietnam
- Established in 1967 by 5 original members varied from military dictatorships to city states to
nascent democracies
- The goal was to preserve long-term peace & stability in Southeast Asia and, by unifying, to
balance the roles that outside powers, including the United States, China, and Japan, played in
Southeast Asia.
- Asean aims to promote collaboration and co-operation among member states, as well as to
advance the interests of the region as a whole, including economic and trade growth.
- In 1967, ASEAN had the 5 original members
- In 1984, Brunei was admitted
- In the late 1990s, indicating that the Indochina wars had finally ended, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam
and Myanmar were then admitted which then completed the ten member states
- In 2000s it developed more muscle
- ASEAN leaders and officials began to see the organization not only as relevant to Southeast Asia
but also as the potential center of Asia-wide regional economic and, eventually, political
integration
- 2017 marks the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN’s establishment as a regional organization founded
on the ideals of peace, prosperity and harmony.
- Five decades of evolution and development has brought ASEAN the unprecedented level of
economic growth and peace dividends that have galvanized its position as one of the world’s
successful inter-governmental groupings.
- Over the last 12 months, in efforts towards the realization of Vision 2025, ASEAN has made
substantial progress
- . In the political-security pillar, further efforts have been undertaken in building a rules-based,
people-oriented, and people-centered community.
 - In the economic pillar, ASEAN has successfully delivered on its 2016 priorities which would
further facilitate trade and create an enabler, especially for the micro, small and medium
enterprises (MSMEs)

- Moving forward, it remains fundamental for ASEAN to preserve the current peaceful and stable
environment for economic development and regional integration that will bring benefits to the
ASEAN people
- Harmonizing national policies and the interests of the organization as a whole will make ASEAN
stronger to overcome unfolding challenges and spread the fruits of integration to the region’s
629 million people in all walks of life.

- ASEAN challenges not only the leaders of the members of the ASEAN but also the citizens in
those countries.
- Therefore, it is also our responsibility as graduating Scholasticans to partake in achieving a
globally competitive region by being prepared to face the demands on each profession in the
present and future.
- We must prepare ourselves for we are the future leaders of our nation.

After ni myka:

 As a future Certified Public Accountant (CPA), to be prepared for the demands of the
future of my profession,
 I must first be able to graduate the five-year course of BS Accountancy by completing the
requirements like thesis, OJT, and a grade of B- or higher and pass the CPA licensure
 school’s education wherein they gave us, BSA students, the opportunity to learn in the
classroom using the manual/traditional approach and the computerized approach,
 and apply them in real-life through hands-on experience/workshops and on-the-job
training.
 My knowledge on my course broadened with the help of seminars provided by the school
and the review center for preparation for the licensure exams.
 Because of these trainings, I acquired skills like problem-solving skills, communication and
presentation skills, critical thinking skills, team and leadership skills and technical skills.
 Although it is essential to have these technical and interpersonal skills, the school has
also taught us the value of ethics or principles like integrity, objectivity, professional
competence and due care, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
 Ethics are as important as the legal and technical aspects of one’s career. Skills without
ethics would lead a competent person to do evil things.
