RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.
Evernote is a notetaking app that you can use to organize all of your notes for multiple subjects in one place. You are also able to
catalog your notes and organize them by tags in the notes or into notebook categories. Evernote will have default notebook
categories, or you can create your own as well. You are even able to set reminders for your notes, alarm clocks as sort to have
emailed to your inbox when you have an important assignment coming up or have a list that you want to remember to pick up
from the store. If you want to share your notebook on Facebook, you are able to do that or more personally you can do that by
emailing that single notebook to an email address.
There is a free version of Evernote which allows you to upload 60 mega bites, including adding 10 pictures to every notebook,
every 30 days but there are more upgraded versions for a fee as well. Evernote is a great way to keep both your academic and
personal life organized.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PORTFOLIOS

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote student-centered learning?
Taking notes is necessary when you are a student and using Evernote would be great for middle school and high school students
because it allows them to incorporate technology and make their notes personal. If we allow our students to take ownership of
their learning and add a creative spin to it, they are more likely to become invested in what they are learning. There is the option
of the students emailing their notes to you daily or weekly as an assignment so that you are able to check and make sure that
they are actually participating and retaining the lesson. Secondly, it would be an invaluable tool for when kids are absent.
Students could be assigned a note taking buddy at the beginning of the year and if they are absent they would be able to text or
email their note buddy for what they missed for the day and not be behind for the time that they were missing.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
 Based on the “value-added rating scale” above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
 Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

3- I would rate this as a 3, both for the reason that it allows the students to incorporate technology into their learning which is
important these days as technology is a part of everything that we do. I also think that the ability of students having a note buddy
that they can share with and not fall behind when they are absent makes this resource invaluable.
