Unit/Theme: Unit 2/Development & Social Change: Population and Development
Goals: This unit should help provide students with a better understanding of the concepts used in population studies, identify issues that arise
in relation to development, the eradication of poverty, and explain how population and development are interconnected with specific
reference to the Caribbean.

Rationale: This topic, Population and Development is not completely new. For students who have completed CSEC Social Studies, some of the
terminology used will be familiar. This unit introduces students to issues and theories surrounding population and development in an
effort to bring awareness to self, community, country and the future of the Caribbean region.
