PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
3. expound the role of teacher, from a given quotation, in the context of a Malaysian
experience in a 1000-word essay.
4. write a 400-word reflective essay on insights and personal experiences gained with
regards to curriculum evaluation and curriculum change and innovation.

PROJECT (50%)
There are three tasks to the project: Task I, Task 2 and Task 3.
With close reference to the quote above, discuss the role of teacher as agent of change in the
successful transformation of the Malaysian school curriculum in meeting the aspirations.
1. In groups of 3:
a. Read 5-6 articles related to the assigned statement (Refer attachment). The articles
must represent the perspectives of educational stakeholders.
b. Review the articles, identifying emerging issues.
c. Choose a stakeholder’s role you would like to enact/represent.
2. Individually conceptualize the issues into a ONE-PAGE speaker’s note for the round table
discussion.
3. Submit the articles to the tutor a week prior to the round table discussion.
4. You will present your review in the round table discussion to address the statement given.
You will be individually assessed for your presentation in the round table discussion.

An important purpose for reflective writing is to develop meta cognitive skills, that is, the ability to
“step back” and understand your own actions and thought processes. A second purpose is to
help you learn. The writing process consolidates and reinforces what you have learned into your
long term memory. A third purpose is to communicate your insights and share what you have
learnt with others.
Write a 400-word reflective essay on insights gained with regards to curriculum evaluation and
curriculum change and innovation in Malaysia. A well-discussed reflective essay is thoughtful,
convincing, insightful and exploratory.

PROCEDURE
1. You are advised to discuss your work regularly with your supervisor to ensure targets are
met.
2. No duplication of assignments from other coursework is allowed.
3. Plagiarism in any form will not be tolerated. All borrowed ideas must be acknowledged
and properly cited.
4. Cite the source of the text and any references you used using the APA format.
Referencing is part of the assessment.
5. Your work should be type written with 1.5 spacing and font Arial, size 11.
6. The cover page should adhere to the recommended coursework template.
7. The cover page should have the following information:
a. Student’s Name
b. Index Number
c. Identity Card Number
d. Class/Group
e. Course & Code
f. Title of Project
g. Lecturer’s name
h. Date of Submission
8. You should adhere to the deadline. Without an approved extension of time, late
submission will be dealt with severely. (A deduction of maximum 5 marks.)
9. An excellent discussion should:
a. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the role of teachers as agent of curriculum
change;
b. Demonstrate a sound understanding of new directions in Malaysian curriculum;
c. Support arguments with, close reference to the Malaysia Education Blueprint
(2013-2025),
10. Marking Criteria
The assignment will be marked against the marking criteria set for this coursework.
