Objective
To expand my mathematical and analytical skills through research and scholarship in materials science

Education
The Pennsylvania State University – University Park, PA
Master and Bachelor of Science: Materials Science and Engineering May 2021
• Schreyer Honors Scholar
• First-year sophomore
• GPA: 3.98
• Relevant coursework: Introduction to Materials Science and Engineering, Solid State Physics, Ordinary and Partial
Differential Equations, Foundations of Organic Chemistry, General Mechanics and Electricity/Magnetism (calculus-based)

Research Experience
Researcher January 2018 to Present
Millennium Science Complex – University Park, PA
• Conducted research on the electrical properties of muscovite mica, a mineral for use in flexible electronics
• Collaborated with other researcher groups to conduct mechanical-electrical property measurements of mica
• Designed bending apparatus for annealing mica while under stress using Fusion 360
Student August 2016
ASM International Eisenman Materials Science Camp – Materials Park, Ohio
• Conducted and presented formal failure analysis at ASM International Headquarters on Civil War era steel alloy sample
• Gained experience with state-of-the-art equipment including a scanning electron microscope and optical microscopes
• Collected, organized, analyzed, and presented data from various mechanical tests

Relevant Projects
PA Governor’s STEM Challenge Project – Smart Mirror January 2017 to May 2017
• Lead team of students in developing a smart mirror display with voice recognition and personal user interface
• Designed electronics layout and device housing in Fusion 360 and Google SketchUp
• Researched one-way mirror technology and tested film, acrylic, and glass one-way mirrors for use in the device
Robotic Arm October 2016 to April 2017
• Independently designed and constructed an articulated robotic arm with five degrees of freedom
• Designed the arm to pick up stacks of pennies, flip them and spread them across an archery target with the closest possible
packing and without overlapping
• Programmed the robotic arm using an Arduino microcontroller to automatically place pennies in the most efficient pattern

Volunteer Experience
Auditor and Volunteer July 2016
ASM International Teacher’s Camp – Millersville, PA
• Audited and volunteered at local, week-long workshop for training grade school teachers in materials science education at
Millersville University
• Set-up experiments and demonstrations in the morning and cleaned up after they had been completed
• Aided instructors by clarifying concepts for teachers and providing feedback on the course at the end
