RE: FOIA Request for copies of permits: offshore dolphin enclosure, St. Thomas USVI
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552), for any and all permits issued by the Corp of Engineers for the
construction of a captive dolphin enclosure off Coki Point, St. Thomas, USVI. 18°20’56.25″N, and 64°51’516.14″ W. We believe project
proponent to be Coral World Ocean Park Aquariums and ocean centric attractions, 6450 Coki Point, St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands
00802.
CORALations is a not for-profit coral reef conservation organization whose mission is: To Conserve, Nurture and Educate. The organization
was founded in 1995 in San Juan Puerto Rico, and the region of operation of the organization is the US Territorial waters of the Caribbean. This
request is being made to educate the general public about the project underway, as well as to help empower citizens provide meaningful
oversight with respect to permit compliance, on the coastal construction now underway.
While the organization is willing to pay the appropriate reasonable fees for this request up to a maximum of $100.00, we ask that due to the
educational nature of our request, all fees be waived. We are also hoping that the agency can provide digital files where possible.
