1.Introduction

In the world, the technology is changing rapidly and the users of electronic devices are
increasing. Electricity is transmitted through wires, but it has very high losses at longer distances.
But there’s an alternative. It’s the Witricity.

What is Witricity?

Witricity is a technology that transmits electricity without wires or cables. Electricity can be
transmitted by 1) inductive coupling, by using 2 coils (primary & secondary) and use oscillating
AC current, 2)resonant inductive coupling, two coils using a resonant circuit for transmission and
reception, 3) over the air using radio frequency (RF).

1) Inductive coupling

Inductive coupling is an method for electricity transmission using 2 coils.

One coil is applied to an oscillating (AC) electric current for transmission, while other coil with
an rectifier and a voltage regulator connected for reception. One coil induces an oscillating
magnetic field, causing other coil to induce an electric current. It is rectified to from AC to DC,
then regulated by an voltage regulator. There we have an inductive coupling.

2) Resonant inductive coupling

The method uses an resonant circuit at specific frequencies for 2 wires. One coil is an resonant
circuit tuned to an specific frequency, while other coil resonates at this frequency to induce an
electric current. Wireless chargers widely use this technology and it can work at middlee
distances above 1cm , 5cm or 10cm.

3) Over the air over RF

An method that uses radio frequency (RF) waves to transmit elctricity at short, middle and long
distances. Use RF transmitter with an antenna to transmit and an rectenna (HF/UHF or higher
frequency diodes and an antenna) to receive.
