Lesson Plan # and Title: _Creative Music and Movement Activity Plan
Overview
Topic and Overarching Goal: topic is going to be about the musical instrument. I want the kids to identify
the names of different instrument and recognize the sound of each one. also, they will learn the name of the
instrument in Arabic language in addition to English language. Furthermore, they will learn belly dance, so
they can have fun and learn new type of dancing.
Behavioral Objectives:
1. when I ask child to name at least two musical instruments, the child will be able to name two musical
instruments at the same time
2. when I ask the child to tell me the sound of one of the musical instrument, the child will be able to make the
sound at least one time.
3. when I ask the child to copy my belly’s dancing movement, the child will be able to do at least three different
movement
From what I noticed during the labs in Grizzly class, I noticed that all most of the kids especially the girls like
dancing and they pretend that they are famous dances so I want to do this activity so these kids can learn new
movement and they can enjoy at the same time so when they hear different type of music they should know how
to shake their body bases on the kind of the music.
Activity/ies Description: What are you doing for your activity/ies? Describe in very specific step-by-step detail,
using numbers or bullets. Write descriptions as if you will be giving instructions to a substitute teacher:
1. Before Ms Lisa excuse the kids from the circle time, I will let them know that today we are going
to learn the musical instrument’s names and we will do belly dancing at the same time.
2. I will bring guitar, accordion, Drum, Gong and Flute.
3. I will use the dramatic area for this activity.
4. I will start the activity by introducing the names of each musical instrument for the kids.
5. I will play in each musical instrument so the kids can know the sound of each one.
6. After repeating too many times introducing the musical instrument for this kids, I will ask them to
tell me the names and sound of each musical instrument if they can.
The movement activity will be in the center area After that I will play belly dancing’s song and I will teach them
the movement of the belly dancing
The kids should copy my movements and try to learn the belly dancing.
2nd Day Changes: Specifically and concretely explain how your activity/ies will change for the 2nd day. How
will you “extend and expand” the learning?
I will read them a book talking about music and explain the difference for each type of music such as classic,
jazz and pop . Also I will put different types of music and I will remind them about the name of each type .
Planning Assessment
How will you assess your behavioral objectives?
I will assess behavioral objective by writing down the result of each child’s answer so for the musical instrument
activity I will have checklist of observation child that include the child name and the name of the instruments.
Based on that checklist I will evaluate the result of the kids and who answer correctly and who did not. For the
movement activity I will have a sheet that include the child name and put check mark beside the name of the
child who copy my movement correctly.
Creativity
Explain why your plan enhances a child’s creativity:
The child will be participate and expand learning , for example when I ask the kids for the names of the musical
instrument they won’t only answer it in English but they should answer it in Arabic language as well .
