To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to thank you for your consideration of me for the position of the 8th grade
math teacher at your middle school. As a student teacher at TeWinkle Middle School in Costa
Mesa, I teach Math Enhanced 1 and Project Lead the Way: Design and Modeling STEM. This
experience at TeWinkle has enveloped me into a culturally diverse campus. I have learned the
importance of expectations, classroom management, open parent communication, and the
incredible impact of a positive learning environment. The skills that I have developed through
this experience are unparalleled. I am prepared for, and incredibly excited to share my passion
for learning and math with my future students.

As an undergraduate, I developed some of my greatest strengths, which are, high-level

mathematical skills, problem solving skills, and perseverance. These skills, along with my ability
to effectively communicate, have proven beneficial within the classroom in areas such as unit
planning, designing rigorous lessons full of content specific and academic language, creating
appropriate assessments, and developing classroom management. I have collaborated with my
master teacher and used the Common Core State Standards to redesign curriculum for the STEM
class. I designed learning activities that were engaging, rigorous, and that developed 21st century
skills. My Math Enhanced 1 class is without curriculum. Much like the STEM class, I have had
to use the Common Core State standards as a guide to design appropriate units, lessons,
scaffolds, and assessments. I have designed kinesthetic, inquiry-based, and technologically
enhanced learning activities that give students many different learning experiences and
opportunities to learning rigorous content that develops academic language. These different
activities create a positive learning environment for my classroom through the development of
effective communication, relationships, and respect. I have risen to the challenge of teaching an
honors math class that has the highest scores in the Newport Mesa School District. Designing
learning activities, units, and curriculum have trained me to stay focused, stay organized, utilize
various resources, develop relationships with students, collaborate with colleagues, and teach
with a goal in mind. Along with academic goals, I have had environmental goals. My classroom
is a safe environment where students enjoy learning and collaborating with their peers.

My love for math, learning, and students has allowed me to be a successful student
teacher, and I am more than excited and prepared to be a teacher. I hope that I can begin my
journey as a teacher at your school.

Sincerely,
Morgan Haner
