14.1.1 Glossary
This short glossary contains only a small selection of important terms from the fields of technologies, produc-
tion processes for print media, electronic media, communication, and information technology. A limited selec-
tion and description is given here of those terms which have been described in detail in the main section of the
book; the index can be used to look them up.
In addition to the glossary, reference is made on page 1129 to a small selection of further material for terms
used in the graphic arts industry and communication technology.
Only some of the common abbreviations are listed and explained in this section; a detailed listing is given in
section 14.1.2.
The abbreviations used for companies and organizations in the source references of figures and tables are avail-
able in section 14.1.3.
