EDU 34 (PRINCIPLES OF TEACHING 1)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course introduces prospective teachers to the nature of teaching. It deals


specifically with the principles of effective instruction and the concomitant processes
involved: instruction planning and demonstration teaching. It is further a blend of
theoretical information and selected matching actual experiences.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
• Discuss the concepts of teaching and teaching profession, principles of
teaching and instructional decisions

• Demonstrate decision-making skills related to appropriate selection of


objectives, subject matter , methodologies, different types of instructional
materials and instructional delivery system

• Exhibit positive attitude towards the teaching profession through


conscientious acquisition of content knowledge, skills and attitudes in
teaching.
