At the outset, we are grateful to all of you for giving us the opportunity
to be on the Governing board of MOA.
As you are aware, we have declared 1st May as MOA Day. We look
forward to your participation for the same. This Handbook will serve as
a complete step by step guide for those of us who wish to conduct OPD
Camps and/or awareness lectures throughout the MOA week. Your
active participation in this event will ensure maximum impact to the
citizens and also make MOA day a grand success.
We take this opportunity to thank all the MOA members & the State
District Relationship Committee ( SDRC) for their unflinching support.
1) Timing
You can conduct the OPD in any 3 hour slot as per your convenience,
for example 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, etc.
2) Space requirements
For any orthopedic camp, the space chosen should be easily accessible.
Availability of parking space would be an added benefit.
• Reception cum waiting area
A comfortable waiting area should be arranged, where patients
and relatives can complete the registration and wait for their
consultation. Water dispensers should be available. Informative
reading material, magazines, newspapers, orthopedic
pamphlets, etc. could be provided while patients are waiting.
• 2 consultation cabins
Consultation space should be equipped with beds, stepper, table
and chairs.
• X-Ray and Pathology
It is advisable to have an in-house x-ray facility wherever
possible, to help provide on-the-spot diagnosis and treatment
advice.
• 2 physiotherapy cabins
The cabins should be equipped with beds and should display
informative exercise charts.
4) Refreshments
1 drink, such as tea, coffee, nimbu pani, kokum sherbet, etc. along with
a biscuit packet may be served to all patients and relatives. An additional
snack may be provided for the hospital staff & doctors.
5) Patient Education
Doctors who can make arrangements for an LCD projector or TV in the
waiting area should use it to display patient education material like short
films, power point slides, etc. This material will be provided by MOA on
request. Please email your request to moaday.1may@gmail.com by 20th
April or contact Mr. Justin : +91- 98500 95550
8) Inauguration
You can call a prominent person from your area ( Corporator /
Industrialist / Social Worker ) for the inauguration.
2) Infrastructure
The recommended infrastructure to host a lecture for 150 people
includes:
• 1 hall with seating for 150 people, with curtains on all windows
• Proper ventilation, fans, water dispensers
• 1 screen, projector and laptop
• Stage or raised dais for the speaker/panel of speakers
• Sound system with speakers and 3 microphones, including 2
cordless microphones which can be circulated in the audience at
question time
The hall should preferably have its own parking or nearby public
parking and be accessible for people with a disability.
7) Inauguration
You can call a prominent person from your area ( Corporator /
Industrialist / Social Worker ) for the inauguration.
While MOA will play a role in creating awareness about MOA Day at the
state level, doctors should reach out to their local communities and
spread the message about their specific camps/lectures. Some ways to
do this are by:
• Listing the camp/lecture in the events section of newspapers
• Sending Whatsapp messages and your friends, family and
associates to spread the word
• Use of social media Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.
• Informing local NGOs and social organizations about the
camp/lecture
• Displaying standees/ banners/ posters at your own clinic and
other hospitals, community centers, etc. 10 days prior to the
event
• Hoardings in the city
• Handbills/flyers to be inserted in the local newspapers
• Press conference 1-2 days prior to the event
• Cable scrolls to be given on local channels
To help gauge the response and reduce waiting times at the camp,
doctors should encourage pre-registration of patients. Patients can be
asked to pre-register by sending their name via sms/whatsapp to a
number of the doctor's choice. Pre-registered patients should be given
first preference, as compared to walk-ins.
You can receive the design and format of the Sample Poster and other
promotional material by sending your request to
moaday.1may@gmail.com or contact Mr. Justin : +91- 98500 95550
