Dear Sir or Madam,

I am currently a MSc Biotechnology student at T10 Target University and was previously a BSc
Biotechnology student at Other T10 Target University. I am writing to you to inquire about the possibility
of an off-cycle internship with Company X.
I am someone who is strongly attracted to life science consultancy because of the variety of work
associated with the profession. This includes work such as M&A, product/investment portfolio reviews,
regulatory compliance (ISO/GMP), and IP strategy. Success in these tasks requires a fusion and balancing
of technical and commercial knowledge in the life sciences. Furthermore, the diverse range of clients
(biotech, pharma, VC/PE) excites me, as it guarantees exposure to the full breadth of products and
players within the life science industry.
Meeting a Company X Associate (Jane Doe) at a University presentation led me to make this inquiry. My
discussion with Jane showed me the great breadth and scale of the projects Company X works on.
Furthermore, our discussion regarding product pricing, particularly within the context of novel therapies
(e.g. CAR-T) made it clear that Company X is involved with the key innovators of the life science industry.
Throughout my studies, I have shown a very high degree of academic excellence in the sciences,
consistently ranking within the top 5% of the world leading Life Science Faculty of T10 Target University.
I have worked on multiple academic projects of industrial relevance e.g. XXX Bio-process Project leading
me to work with industry experts from firms such as Sartorius, Biogen and GE Healthcare. This has
allowed me to expand my understanding of the economic facets of the life science industry. At the same
time, this experience has developed my ability to decrypt and solve challenging and novel issues via
reasoned assumptions and present solutions in a clear and concise manner to members of industry.
Furthermore, building relationships with these experts and my peers was integral to the effective
communication and thus success of my projects.
I firmly believe that these qualities make me a strong candidate for an internship at Company X. Thank
