Connections: What connections can you make between your goal and your school’s mission/vision?

Labelle’s Mission- Developing Excellence

My goal as an Art’s Integration Teacher is to inspire my students to dream big. This is the first year the fourth grade team had
extensive training using Arts Integration, and initially we were very apprehensive. Now our students and 4th grade team are
risk takers, and we are passionate about incorporating A.I. in our daily plans. I had truly grown professionally because I have
always had a love for the arts, but I did not realize the benefit in incorporating art into my lessons.

Challenges: What challenges do you see in implementing your plan?

The biggest challenge for me this year was the start of Remediation. Remediation at Labelle involves teacher’s compacting
to ensure our students are ready to take the GMAS. Remediation is very beneficial and my students have gained many
useful strategies to be successful on the test; however, it has been difficult to incorporate A.I. in my remediation plans. Next
school year I plan to do a better job doing both remediation and A.I.

Collaborations: What support will you need in order to implement your action plan?
I will continue to work with my PLC. During our PLC meetings, we discuss ways to incorporate A.I. into our lessons and we
often brainstorm various ideas. My PLC team has been vital for me becoming a successful A.I. teacher.

Changes: What changes will you have to make in your current practices to complete your action plan?

My goal is to challenge myself and think “outside the box” in coming up with meaningful A.I. lessons for my students. I will
continue to formularize the various techniques and terminology used in all the areas we have studied this year.
