Information Governance and Current Landscape
Ambulatory care clinics to Major academic acute care settings collect data from many different systems, to be
useful data most be converted into Information. Making sure that the information is consistent and accurate
requires an Information Governance (IG) plan making information a strategic asset versus an enterprise liability.

Health Care Slow to Adopt
A survey in 2015 between Cohasset Associates and AHIMA demonstrated the growing need for sound Information
Governance programs within their respective facility, representing the impact of AHIMA and it efforts. However, almost half
of the respondents felt they could not effectively train or educate staff on an effective IG program within their organizations
and there was not significant progress towards implementation.
