3.8 The student will determine, by counting, the value of a
collection of bills and coins whose total value is $5.00 or less,
compare the value of the bills and coins, and make change.
3.9 The student will estimate and use U.S. Customary and
metric units to measure

a) length to the nearest 2-inch, inch, foot, yard, centimeter,
and meter;
b) liquid volume in cups, pints, quarts, gallons, and liters;
c) weight/mass in ounces, pounds, grams, and kilograms; and
d) area and perimeter.
The objective of these lessons is to introduce the student to the
value of $5.00 or less. The teacher will first give a brief introduction
into the definition to dealing with money and to understand the
value of up to $5.00 dollars or less. Students will be able to use this
SMART Notebook lesson to solve problems pertaining to these types
of values. First students who volunteer will be asked to identify a
dime or a dollar bill. They will then drag the dime or dollar bill to the
correct value. Through the lesson the will be given scenarios to
where they drag the correct value to the picture objects that match
the value. This will help the students in a fun way to understanding
the value of money and what certain things are worth the values of
a dollar or $5 dollars.
The objective of these lessons is to introduce the student to
measurements. The teacher will give a brief description of
measurement and how they can use it in different ways. Students
will also be able to use their SMART Notebook lesson for this lesson
to help solve problems dealing with inches, feet, yards, and
centimeters. First students will be put into groups, there will be a
total of three groups. In this lesson each group will be asked to drag
certain object to a ruler and find the measurement of each object.
At the end each group must put the measurements of their objects
onto the table. The first group to finish, is the winner!
