Creatividad: ¿derecho o izquierdo? ¡No, el juego de ambos!

Analizando la definición de “Creatividad” Encontramos que los neurocientificos definen a los individuos
creativos como aquellos capaces de resolver problemas y tomar decisiones en situaciones que ameriten
creatividad” y en este concepto nos encontramos con la personalidad “Innovadora” que ciertas personas
poseen, esta personalidad esta caracterizada por la oposición a las ideas ortodoxas y buscan nuevas
opciones.
¿Pero en que consiste que un individuo posea esta personalidad?
En 1979 La doctora Betty Edwards publicó un libro donde decía que el área o región del cerebro que
trabajaba a la hora de “Dibujar” era el lado derecho del cerebro lo cual fue un gran impacto en la
comunidad artística y gracias a esto se lateralizó la creatividad únicamente al hemisferio derecho.
Sabemos que el cerebro esta dividido en los hemisferios y a su vez este se subdivide en cuatro lóbulos
con funciones asociadas. Y cada una de estas regiones interactúan entre si para funcionar de manera
integrada para conformar la conducta y personalidad de cada individuo.
El hemisferio izquierdo se asocia con el conocimiento abstracto, el lenguaje y el calculo matemático, e
incluso con los procesos de memorización. Por su parte el lado derecho se encuentra relacionado con el
sentimiento, intuición, sexualidad, localización en el espacio y creatividad.
Al realizar un experimento, que comparo el flujo de sangre en diferentes áreas del cerebro, en dos grupos
de 12 sujetos cada uno, calificados como “ Muy creativos” y “Poco creativos” Se encontró que cuando se
enfrentaban a pruebas con bloques de construcción, en los individuos creativos había un incremento del
flojo de sangre en la región frontal de AMBOS hemisferios. Por su parte en los “poco creativos” ese flujo se
concentraba mas en el hemisferio izquierdo.
Otro experimento mostro que la percepción de una melodía incrementa el flojo sanguíneo en el hemisferio
derecho de las personas que NO son músicos profesionales y por su parte en los músicos profesionales
se activa el hemisferio izquierdo, lo que indica una reorganización de la función cerebral debido al inicio a
edad temprana del estudio de la música.
Estos argumentos rechazan la idea de que existe una tajante lateralización en el cerebro ya que
implícitamente se despoja a la persona creativa de muchas de las cualidades que posee el hemisferio
izquierdo. Por el contrario, la evidencia científica ratifica que ambos hemisferios trabajan
complementándose, una persona puede hacer un buen uso del hemisferio izquierdo utilizando el lenguaje
pero añadirle creatividad al significado de las palabras, utilizando el hemisferio derecho.
Por lo tanto, la integración de la actividad de ambos hemisferios da como resultado mayores logros
intelectuales, uno de ellos, las artes. La creatividad involucra ambos hemisferios.

When we analyze the word“creativity”We will realize that neuroscientists define “creative people” as those that are
able to solve problems and take decitions in situations that need you to be creative, and that, would be the
description of an innovative person, who will be always the oposite of an orthodox person, and that will ussually
look for new options .

But, How come someone can be innovative, or creative?, how is that?

In 1979, Doctor Betty Edwards published this book, wich said that the brain area that use to work when we draw is
the right side; that was a huge impact in the artistic community of those times, and is becouse of it, that creativity
got everybodys attention only to the right hemispher.

We know that the brain is divided in two hemisphers, and four lobes, with associated functions. Each one of this
parts interact with each other to work in an integrated way to build the conduct and personality of each person.
The left hemisphere is related with abstract knowledge, the lenguaje, and math thinking, even, the memorize
proceses as well. The right side, in the other hand, is related to feelings, intuition, sexuality, and location in space
and creativity.

There is this experiment,about a comparisson between diferent kinds of blood flows from diferent brain areas in
two groups of 12 guys each one, clasified as “high creativity” and “low creativity”, which was found that when they
were faced to proves with construction blocks, creative guys showed a blood flow increasing in both hemispheres
frontal area. But “low creative” group blood flow was only showed in left hemispher zone.
Another experiment showed that the perpecption of a melody let the blood flow get increase on the right
hemisphere of people that are NOT profesional musicians, but profesional musicians left hemisphere side was on,
whic indicates a reorganization of the brain function, due to the early age music studies.

These arguments rejected the brain sharp lateralization idea, becaouse it is

implied it disposses the creative person from many qualities that the left hemisphere owns. Conversely, the cientist
evidence ratifies that both hemispheres work together. For example a person can use the left hemisphere properly
using language, but adding creativity to the meaning of the words by using the right hemisphere.
So, the integration of both hemisphere activity gives major intellectual achievements, por example: arts. Creativity
involves both hemispheres.
