Serena is a calm and confident teacher who establishes a positive atmosphere in her classroom where students feel accepted and are willing to take risks and try something new. She is organized, flexible and focused on what students are learning. Serena teaches with passion. She facilitates participation, challenges students and patiently helps them to understand. Serena adapts her teaching to meet the needs of students of various abilities and learning styles including students still leaming to speak English. She plans a variety of lessons including many hands-on activities such as science experiments and other projects. Serena often has students share their thoughts with a partner so that everyone has a chance to speak. She regularly integrates subjects such as science, reading, writing, math and art. Serena consistently includes technology including the SMART Board and online resources as part of her planning and instruction and teaches her students to use technology. Serena has excellent classroom management skills. She is energetic, plans well, uses time efficiently and keeps students engaged. She is able to anticipate problems and to find win-win solutions to situations. She looks for ways to make school a positive experience for everyone. Serena is prepared for the challenges of having her own classroom. She is a team player with her colleagues and participates in school activities. Serena is professional in her interactions with students and adults and will be an excellent addition to any school staff.
