By the end of the 17-18 school year, the overall agreement rate (strongly agree &
agree) for students and staff to feel as though at the school, everyone treats each other
with respect to be at least 71%, as measured in the Imagine Schools Student and Staff
Surveys.
u  Reason: Our surveys and feedback indicate that the character trait of respect
requires explicit instruction to unify expectations. Survey item: At this school, everyone
(students, teachers and administrators) treat each other with respect:
16-17 Staff Survey Results: %Agree=58.3%,16-17 Student Survey Results: %Agree=65.4%

opportunities to internalize character and
shared values.
Silent Discussion (Engage)
u  Using the information you learned let’s have a silent
discussion. Use the chart paper to reflect, ask questions
and respond to the questions other’s have already
asked. You can use symbols (?, J), start a conversation
thread, share personal experiences, and/or leave a
statement.
Revisiting Objectives (Evaluate)

u  During our session today we:


u  established definitions for character development and shared values;
u  equipped ourselves with tools, resources and ideas to begin
implementing character development and shared values at school sites
u  engagement of students, staff and families;
u  evaluated why character development and shared values are
important
