HDFC Bank Limited (HDFC Bank) is a banking company. The Bank is engaged in providing
a range of banking and financial services - including commercial banking and treasury
operations.
It operates in four segments: Treasury, Retail Banking, and Wholesale Banking and other
banking business.

 The treasury segment primarily consists of net interest earnings from the Bank's
investment portfolio, money market borrowing and lending, gains or losses on investment
operations.

 The retail banking segment serves retail customers through a branch network and other
delivery channels.

 The wholesale banking segment provides loans, non-fund facilities and transaction
services to large corporate, emerging corporate, public sector units, Government bodies,
financial institutions and medium scale enterprises.

 Other Banking business segment includes income from Para banking activities, such as
credit cards, debit cards, third-party product distribution, primary dealership business and
the associated costs.

measured by assets it is the largest private sector bank in India by market capitalization as of
December 2015, at approximately Rs. 2, 67,293.02 Cores. Mr. Aditya Puri is the Managing
Director of HDFC Bank, and has held this position since 1994. The bank is engaged in
providing a range of banking and financial services including commercial banking and
treasury operations. It operates in four segments: treasury, retail banking, wholesale banking
and other banking business.

HISTORY
The Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) was amongst the first to
receive an 'in principle' approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set up a bank in
the private sector, as part of the RBI's liberalization of the Indian Banking
Industry in 1994. The bank was incorporeated in August 1994 in the
n a m e o f 'HDFC Bank Limited', with its registered office in Mumbai, India. HDFC
Bank commenced operations as a Scheduled Commercial Bank in January 1995.

HDFC Bank, the banking arm of HDFC is expected to go on stream. The bank already has

headcount to many more. It is on the brim of increasing its customers through its attractive
schemes and offer.
The project opportunities provided was market segmentation and ident
ifying prospective customers in potential geographical location
and convincing them to attract more customers so that new business
opportunities of the bank can be explored. So, at last the conclusion is that there is
tough competition ahead for the company from its major competitors in the banking
sector. Last but not the least I would like to thank HDFC Bank for giving me an
