Summary: Teacher Efficacy and Practice in Meeting the Needs of Diverse Learners: How Do
Partnerships Support Teachers?

The article focuses on how partnerships amongst teachers can impact and diversify
student learning and development. Out of 139 elementary teachers surveyed, the consensus
showed that teachers felt that having a partnership equated to a wider variety of tools to
differentiate instruction methods. The results also showed that partnerships made teachers
consider student needs more often when planning lessons and made them feel a greater influence
on their student’s learning. The article includes a graphing showing the difference in survey
responses in University of Arkansas graduates versus teachers with degrees from other colleges.
In every categories graduates ranked significantly higher, representing the influence of their
partnerships in their lesson plans. The article also includes the methodology of this project, as
well as, a copy of the survey given to teachers. Some implications for the research done in this
project are providing learning in reference to location and audience, promoting vicarious and
mastery learning experiences and resources, teacher effectiveness and efficiency, and the
assessment of teacher needs.

Summary: Technology and Education Online Discussion Forums: It’s in the Response

This artifice talks about the early stages of discussion boards implemented into online
learning experiences. Positive results were found in the study suggesting that discussion boards
allowed for more, well thought out responses and conversations. It was also found that it was
easier to revisit topics or a conversation through an online board, rather than a face-to-face
lesson. This also helps to reenforce the content of a conversation. Some negative implications of
discussion boards used in an educational setting were listed as student accountability and
motivation. A concern was also expressed towards leaving behind a social class that doesn't have
access to the internet.
