Nelson has been a television weather forecaster for more than
40 years, and has worked hard to teach his viewers, young and
old, about the effects of climate change and how people like
YOU can help. A prominent member of the American
Meteorological Society’s Board, Mike Nelson has also won 18
Emmy Awards for Outstanding Weather Anchor, as well as
Colorado Broadcasters Association “Citizen of the Year.”

Closing Keynote
Zackery Rago,
Coral Expert & Underwater Camera Technician, Chasing Coral
Performing Arts Center
Zack Rago has always held an intense fascination with coral reefs. And even though he grew
up landlocked in Boulder, Colorado, he was determined to learn everything about coral from
Charles Veron, father of coral taxonomy. Hear what Zack has learned from his prominent
role in the making of the Netflix Original documentary, Chasing
Coral. From building complex camera systems to manually
photographing two coral bleaching events in the Great Barrier
Reef, Rago was an integral part of the production. Through his
work he emphasized the urgency and worldwide impact that
greenhouse gases have on the planet’s marine ecosystem.
Since the documentary, Zack has worked with “Impact
Campaign” giving presentations about coral bleaching and
raising awareness for this underwater catastrophe.
