Cause

and Effect of Earth’s Systems

This is an individual assignment (there will be not talking). You will be analyzing geoscience data to
make the claim that one change to Earth’s surface can create feedbacks that cause changes to other Earth
systems.

You will walk around the room and analyze (identify relationships and interpret information to reach
conclusions) your classmates posters, that should have a graph on Atmospheric CO2 AND their unique
data that they chose to represent. Also, there should be a prediction(s) they have made, described the
tools used to collect their data, impacts and responses to the effects of Atmospheric CO2.

Collect information from 8 different types of graphs and for each graph answer the questions below.
(NOTE: Answering the questions correctly/well=8/10 Meets Expectations)

Atmospheric CO2 vs. Lower Stratosphere Temperature Anomalies
1. What is the relationship between the changes in Atmospheric CO2 and changes in this system?

2. What are the possible feedbacks to this change?

3. Is the feedback positive (decreasing=stabilizing the system) or negative (increasing=destabilizing
the system)?

4. What is the effect on climate?

5. To earn a 9/10-10/10 (Advanced/Exemplary) you need to be able to include a statement
regarding how variation or uncertainty in the data (limitations, accuracy, any bias in the data
resulting from choice of sample, scale instrumentation, etc.) may affect the interpretation of data.
